What makes me nervous is that Italy is seeding our country with patient zero's all over the place (largely because President Trump refused to act mind you). And there death rate is very high compared to most countries.
There are two strains of this virus, S and L. I can't recall which one offhand is the more deadly, but one of them is far more deadly, and it might be that Italy has the more deadly strain and it's the country being allowed to see the United States.

According to medical information, neither of them is more dangerous than the other, and they seem virtually indistinguishable, and it is expected that getting one will prevent you from getting the other.

Studies in China (with limited data) describe the "L" strain as more aggressive, comprising 70% of COVID-19 cases. The "L" strain was more prevalent in the early stages of the Wuhan outbreak last year. The "S" strain, less aggressive, comprises 30% of cases.
No info about whether one strain is more deadly than the other. Further study is needed to determine genomic data and mutations.
