Imagine if it had been released, simultaneously, in 100 of our largest cities. In multiple highly populated/popular spots in each city.
In 3 weeks every ER in nearly every large city would have been full of blue people.
And nobody would have known what did it. Where it came from.
And all your medical people would have it.
Once THAT die off was complete (and it would be spectacular under those conditions...imagine what that scenario would do to law enforcement, the military, food distribution, power/electrical maintenance, etc), then you find out any survivors are sterile.
Complete population replacement in 2 generations.
No bloodshed needed by the aggressor. Just sit back and wait.

It was not.
Simultaneous release in 100 cities would surely indicate an intentional attack and invite a counterattack. Wouldn’t an attack on 100 cities ignite nuclear reprisal and WW III / Armageddon?

That’s an excellent point. One of the fears that I’ve had regarding new-age weapons, like Russian submarine drones that deliver nukes to our coasts and go kaboom, is our inability to figure out who the ‘bad guy’ is...since all of the evidence is vaporized.
So why would China infect themselves first, knowing full-well that they’d be blamed by Trump, regardless of their degree of ownership of the Deep State?
Answer - it was NOT meant to be deployed at this time...or it was really just an accident in Wuhan. Hopefully we find out sooner than later.
