Surgeon General had to lie to us about wearing masks because he didn’t want a run on medical masks.

I'm sure that played a role. Our medical mask supply would have looked like our toilet paper supply. As the father of an ICU nurse I appreciate it if that's what he did.

Pretty sure the CDC general guidance against masks predates Wuhan Flu though.
