Masks, Hydroxychloroquine Both Helpful & Facilitate Getting Back to Work

Masks do they work?

A study out of Hong Kong shows wearing a mask reduces transmission by as much as 75%.

The study was done in hamsters. They place the animals in 3 scenarios to assess the effectiveness of masks. One with masks just on infected subjects, another with masks on healthy subjects and third with no masks. A fan was blown between the two cages to allow for transmission of droplets.

The best results was when the mask was on the infected cage with only 15% getting infected. Next best was covering the healthy cage with 33% getting infected. No mask showed 66% getting infected.

So this shows masks absolutely do matter. As we have been saying masks help the other person more than yourself. But we found wearing a mask unlike we have been told protects you too. The infection rate dropped 50% even when the infected were not masked. The mask is protecting you some regardless if someone else is wearing one or not. They concluded masking at 80% adoption flattens the curve significantly more than a strict lockdown. This should be good evidence on getting back to work.

As for people telling you masks are dangerous, that is very shaky information. If you have moderate to severe COPD and you are wearing an N95 mask you could be rebreathing carbon dioxide. This is only in people with significant lung disease.

More information on Hydroxychloroquine

In Mumbai they decided to offer police officers over 40 hydroxychloroquine. Out of 10,000 officers 4,500 choose to use the hydroxychloroquine. So far 618 who refused treatment have contracted Covid-19 and unfortunately 9 have since died from Covid-19. In the HCQ group none have died. A few have contracted the disease but had only mild symptoms. No reported side effects in the treatment group.

I hope people will take a look at Dr. Coates' entire post. It has good info on preventative supplements.

I don’t agree with wearing masks. It is not good for your blood chemistry to be breathing in your own carbon dioxide.

“In the HCQ group none have died.”

Beautiful.

When something works, it can be stated in just one sentence. You don’t need a 5,000 word “peer-reviewed” study to figure it out.

The marxist left who wants you sick, even their 24/7 lying cannot compete with these kinds of truth bombs.

So let me get this right-Masks are necessary because the rats in the cage with COVID blowing on them for hours? days? weeks? (we don’t know) is the same as me walking by someone for a few seconds?

COVID is much worse for your blood chemistry.

Yes, there was a study that in a 15 mile per hour wind, one person sneezing transmitted a droplet cloud 18 feet away in 5 seconds.

Which is not long enough for sunlight to deactivate the virus, which takes about 5 minutes in direct sunlight.

So yes, you can get this outdoors, though it’s not as likely as indoors where it just hangs in the air for a couple of hours.

For a few people, but not for the majority.

If maskwearing is the price to pay for reopening the economy, I’ll take it.

As a generality I agree, but you have to figure that exhalation has to have less than 100% efficiency even without masks, so the masks do not totally transform the situation.

Having said that, I want an electrically powered “mask” which pumps filtered air into my nose, and sucks my exhalation away from my mouth and thru another filter prior to safely releasing it into the atmosphere.

Thank you for the links. I read them both. It is refreshing to receive an objection that is comprehensive and data-driven and not an unknowing, bombastic rejection. The latter is becoming more prevalent on FR lately.

The articles make me wonder why surgical masks are even used in surgeries. Do you know? Also, the studies referred to are all related to influenza. Do you think it makes any difference that the hamster study was specific to COVID-19?

Masks are worn primary in the OR to prevent contamination from the mouth and airways from landing in an open wound. The human mouth is teeming with bacteria, which is usually harmless in the month and throat of heathy people, but could kill a sick person when introduced into the bloodstream. Bacteria—sepsis.

As for influenza, it’s the best model they have right now. It’s a virus (several strains), and very widely studied. “Close enough” works, in this case.

And thanks for the kind words. We can all be kids throwing sand sometimes. Me included.
