Van Buren, Arkansas man takes hydroxychloroquine despite health warnings from medical organizations

A local man says he took the drug hydroxychloroquine while he had COVID-19 and within a few days felt better.

He did this despite warnings from the majority of medical organizations such as the World Health Organization (WHO), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the National Institutes of Health warning against it.

Steve Allen of Van Buren was diagnosed with COVID-19 at the end of July.

“I just felt like it was getting a sinus infection," Allen said.

Allen says after his doctor refused to prescribe him anything he got a prescription for hydroxychloroquine, zinc and vitamin D-3 from a physician's assistant that he knew.

“After the first couple of doses I could really tell it was breaking up the chest congestion, and I was coughing a lot and ended up going to the ER because I was having a hard time breathing," Allen said.

Allen claims the ER doctor told him to continue taking hydroxychloroquine, along with steroids and within a matter of days, he felt much better.

“I’m not saying it would do that for everyone, but I think it’s pretty crazy that we can’t have a conversation with our doctor about a medication that may work," Allen said.

Dr. Rawle Seupaul, the Chief Clinical Officer with UAMS says the reason the FDA revoked the emergency authorization of hydroxychloroquine treatment for COVID-19 is that it doesn’t work.

“There’s no scientific evidence that shows any benefit to using hydroxychloroquine,” Dr. Seupaul said. "There are a number of reasons why this individual could have gotten better. He may have had mild disease, he may be healthy, he be lucky.”

Local pharmacists say they haven’t seen very many prescriptions for hydroxychloroquine in the treatment of COVID-19 but they’re happy to any questions customers might have about the drug.

“The harm for any medication is potential side effects, hydroxychloroquine, although it has been available for a long time, does have some serious side effects, they can range anyway from GI symptoms to nightmares, up to cardiac arrhythmia," said Andrew Mize, a pharmacist at Debbies Family Pharmacy in Rogers.

Take note FREEPERS this is how one person saved his life by going around his doctor who refused to prescribe the HCQ++.

And as far as the PHARMACISTS are concerned I will take the chance of having a 'nightmare' should I need to take HCQ.

How many patients has Dr. Ted at WHO ever seen? How many has he ever cured?

The thing is there’s no real harm in taking the pill so it doesn’t make sense not to.

There are so many medicines prescribed for off-label use that this is no big deal or shouldn’t be.

Hell neurontin is prescribed for nearly everything except raising one from death :-)

Pretty much anyone who takes an over the counter medicine is playing Russian Roulette with his life, at least by the standard being used against HCQ.

Dr. Rawle Seupaul, the Chief Clinical Officer with UAMS says the reason the FDA revoked the emergency authorization of hydroxychloroquine treatment for COVID-19 is that it doesn’t work.

Doc Rawle, on the other hand, would give contraceptives to Steve Allen's 12-year-old daughter behind Steve's back, so she could have sex with syphilis-ridden pedophiles.

The doc has got the health of the public in mind.

Ten bucks worth of the CDC-recommended treatment for exposure to malaria, hydroxychloroquine, must be kept away from Steve AT ALL COSTS.

millions of people are taking, or have been cured by taking, the hydro trifecta of simple, cheap pills.
it is not newsworthy at all that one gentleman in Arkansas or whereever is doing likewise.

millions of people obey traffic lights and it is not newsworthy if your or I do also

Have you ever read the list of possible side effects from tylenol?
How about a heavy dose of table salt?

Yep, you certainly do roll the dice if you take the same meds every day, and one advantage of being under a doctor is that they will at least check your labs to see if something is going kaput. But even so, we are NOT even talking about HCQ on a years-long basis.

...this is INSANE.

“Allen says after his doctor refused to prescribe him anything he got a prescription for hydroxychloroquine, zinc and vitamin D-3 from a physician’s assistant that he knew.”

This PA could be doxxed and end up in big trouble. If they had no patient/provider relationship, this could be blown out of proportion and the PA could be facing intervention from the licensing board. Since they have successfully politicized hydroxychloroquine, I wouldn’t put it past the demoncrats to make an example out of these guys.

Can you point to a news report that millions of people in the USA are taking/have taken the hydro trifecta?

Please send a link as I would like to read the story.

If your doctor killing your baby is a private matter then so is a doctor prescribing this legal medicine off label. The Supremacist Court gods in black dresses have spoken.

You’re right. Sometimes I go on tangents :)

I have fallen behind. Is it ILLEGAL to prescribe for covid or is it a state by state basis?

Seems like fed level nonsense.

I did, too. By the tone of the article you’d think he was taking rat poison.

Here- I’ll fix the headline to something more truthful

Van Buren, Arkansas man takes hydroxychloroquine based on years- decades, 60 years actually, of safety records showing it is perfectly safe, and despite the ignorant health warnings from medical organizations, who hate Donald Trump so badly, that they are willing to see 10’s of 1000s of folks die unnecessarily, rather than give them a perfectly safe drug to stop the Virus

many people in USA are, or have taken, this trifecta. But I meant millions of people around the world have, or are taking, it, as a number of countries are using it as their primary course or treatment. Here is a quick report from April 2020, the numbers of doctors, users, successful treatments have all increased since of course,

From the below April 2, 2020 report that covered 6,200 Covid-19 treating doctors:

“Hydroxychloroquine usage amongst COVID-19 treaters is 72% in Spain, 49% in Italy, 41% in Brazil, 39% in Mexico, 28% in France, 23% in the U.S., 17% in Germany, 16% in Canada, 13% in the UK and 7% in Japan”

Note that Spain and Italy are the 2 countries with the highest use. They have also both recently transitioned from increasing daily deaths to decreasing daily deaths:

China and South Korea aren’t mentioned in the report, but other reports are that both countries are using hydroxychloroquine as part of their treatment options.

April 2 Report: Largest Statistically Significant Study by 6,200 Multi-Country Physicians on COVID-19 Uncovers Treatment Patterns and Puts Pandemic in Context - Sermo

Treatments & Efficacy

The three most commonly prescribed treatments amongst COVID-19 treaters are 56% analgesics, 41% Azithromycin, and 33% Hydroxychloroquine
Hydroxychloroquine usage amongst COVID-19 treaters is 72% in Spain, 49% in Italy, 41% in Brazil, 39% in Mexico, 28% in France, 23% in the U.S., 17% in Germany, 16% in Canada, 13% in the UK and 7% in Japan
Hydroxychloroquine was overall chosen as the most effective therapy amongst COVID-19 treaters from a list of 15 options (37% of COVID-19 treaters)75% in Spain, 53% Italy, 44% in China, 43% in Brazil, 29% in France, 23% in the U.S. and 13% in the U.K.
The two most common treatment regimens for Hydroxychloroquine were:(38%) 400mg twice daily on day one; 400 mg daily for five days(26%) 400mg twice daily on day one; 200mg twice daily for four days
Outside the U.S., Hydroxychloroquine was equally used for diagnosed patients with mild to severe symptoms whereas in the U.S. it was most commonly used for high risk diagnosed patients
Globally, 19% of physicians prescribed or have seen Hydroxychloroquine prophylactically used for high risk patients, and 8% for low risk patients

You said in wasn’t newsworthy. In the USA it is newsworthy because HCQ is being restricted, unlike in many countries where millions of people regularly take HCQ to protect against malaria.
