What was the rule about about inserting a previously approved person into another position?
Is Grenell a name that can be inserted into Wray’s place?
He was approved by the current Senate, right?

AFAIK an “acting” doesn’t need any special approval. To put a permanent needs approval, but something about previous approval even for another position may work. Just a dim muffled memory bell ringing.

He was Senate approved to be ambassador to Germany, ergo he could become Acting Director of National Intelligence.
Same rule applies for FBI

I think Grenell was approved as the ambassador to Germany by the Senate, then served as interim DNI, no vote necessary.
Yes, he could be nominated and should pass but can be placed there as temp. too. Even if he is placed as a temp. I think Trump could still ask for Grenell to be approved as the new Director as well.

Is Grenell a name that can be inserted into Wrays place? He was approved by the current Senate, right? Oooo, I hope that's right.
Grenell would be perfect.
He has the perfect 'don't give a F' attitude and they have pissed him off appropriately. He has already shone that he is willing and able to act outside the box and burn it down.
I vote Grenell for FBI. He's already looking for work.
