Sturm,Ruger and Company,Inc Acquires Marlin Firearms
Ruger Firearms ^ | September 30, 2020 | Not Attributed

Sturm, Ruger and Company, Inc. (NYSE: RGR) announced today that its offer to purchase substantially all of the Marlin Firearms assets was accepted by Remington Outdoor Company, Inc. and approved by the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Alabama. The Company will pay the $30 million purchase price from cash on hand at the time of closing, which is expected to occur in October.

"The value of Marlin and its 150-year legacy was too great of an opportunity for us to pass up," said Ruger President and CEO Chris Killoy. "The brand aligns perfectly with ours and the Marlin product portfolio will help us widen our already diverse product offerings."

The transaction is exclusively for the Marlin Firearms assets. Remington firearms, ammunition, other Remington Outdoor brands, and all facilities and real estate are excluded from the Ruger purchase. Once the purchase is completed, the Company will begin the process of relocating the Marlin Firearms assets to existing Ruger manufacturing facilities.

"The important thing for consumers, retailers and distributors to know at this point in time," continued Killoy, "is that the Marlin brand and its great products will live on. Long Live the Lever Gun."

Madison. About 20 minutes west of Reidsville, near the Stokes County border. Plant is just off 220. I think they just make shotguns and pistols at this factory, but I don’t remember.

Everyone I know who has or does work there likes it.

My brother stole a Marlin 39A Golden Mountie Rifle from me and traded it for a bag of weed. My grandfather left it to me.

In Texas, firearm theft is a felony, no matter the value of the gun. Your brother not only betrayed a trust, he delivered a gun to a criminal.

I bought a 795 first and then discovered the Marlin 60, now I have 8-9 of them.

I have about a dozen Marlin 60 variants but don't have one with a squirrel on the stock. I used to see them at gun shows all the time but they have all but disappeared.

1980-1981 vintage.

I also have a Model 30 in 30-30 with a deer stock.

When I lived in Alaska I bought a Marlin 1895 in .45/70 that shoots under 2” at 100 yards with iron sights. That was my bear defense gun. Now I live in north Idaho and it is STILL my bear defense gun.

I believe that Ruger will make Marlin the great company that it was. It’s such a shame that Remington is in such bad shape. I had several great Remington firearms until I lost them in the boating accident.

“ My mother’s 80 and a cancer survivor.”

Mine is 82 and has beaten cancer twice.

Tough old bird, my mom.
