I just read that most of the maile that you get today is grown on the Cook Islands, which is probably good because it saves the Hawaiian maile which is slow growing and has not been doing so well of late. Maybe the sandalwood trees could come back too.
That’s interesting. Hawaii is such a place of opposites. The tourist industry is practically wrecked because it has the worst restrictions of all the states. But the tourist industry is digusting and corrupt and has ruined the islands. In the early 1900s there was so much diversity in agriculture they exported food including oranges and rice to CA. They grew cotton, had a cotton mill, made cotton clothing and mattresses. Big dairy industry. Grew basically almost all their own food.
