Swedish Death Cleaning
I am having to do a modified version right now.
Ouch!
Yep! For me, I’m worried. For my hubby, not so much. He’s the pact rat. He loves his stuff.
I have no problem with legitimate treatments such as yours, but the medical industrial complex just throws pills at things. It doesn’t matter if they help or harm, as long as everybody makes money.
Keep up the good work! :)
Was it the best thing for her? Those are hard decisions - I bet it was good for her/ and for you.
You might try this - my great Aunt lived to 103, and she was in her own apartment with a walker at 97. Her son lived nearby. I went to visit her there. She took off after dinner to do exercises - ‘it takes me longer these days.’
BUT - I went to clean her fridge; it was FULL, top to bottom, with 31 Flavors ice cream, Sarah Lee cakes, fudge, pies and cakes - you name it!!!
I suggested to her that I buy her some fruits and vegetables. She said, “I have been eating like this ALL my life. I am 97 and living alone.” Talk about words to live by.
.
Say what?!
End the end, I think it was. My Mother was an extremely private person. Even in her dementia, she still was.I hated how I had to do it. Like I said, it still haunts me. She died coming up 5 years ago. I miss her every day.
Fantastic! Love it!
Ditto for one of my grandmothers. She lived to be 90 and her diet consisted of beer, coffee, cigarettes, and chocolate covered cherries. :-)
I agree! There should be more places like that. We are renters, and it’s hard to find a place that will be suitable for us over the next years. What is the deal with all the steps? :-)
Ouchie!
You know, my husband and I aren’t quite there yet but getting close. I know our kids talk about us, but so far it isn’t in front of us.
I agree. I do my best to stay away from all prescription meds.
I think that is what the author is saying. People could stay in their homes longer if they had certain modifications to make their lives easier and safer.
Lol, I feel your pain.
Yes, staying active is important, but our bodies break down no matter what. Some people suffer from arthritis and other ailments and make being active more difficult. I always question those studies that say active people are healthier and live longer, because maybe people are more active because they fell better and are not as ill or incapacitated as those who are less active. In other words, correlation does not prove causation.
I know that is difficult. You might check out the forums at care.com. They are selling services, but they also have a great question and answer forum for people who are currently caregivers.
