A startling new surge in cases suggests that Delta is established in Louisiana and the previously beaten-back virus is once again on the rise...
Over the last week, cases have increased by 3,360, the biggest spike since March 4, the tail-end of the winter surge. Cases have more than doubled over the last 14 days, likely an effect of the more contagious Delta variant making its way into unvaccinated hosts.
Delta is now the dominant strain in the U.S., making up 52% of new cases. In Louisiana and neighboring states, it is responsible for up 59% of new cases.
With one of the lowest vaccination rates in the country, Louisiana residents have a higher risk for coronavirus infection. Just 39% of the population has received at least one shot, behind only Mississippi. Nationally, the rate for vaccine initiation is 55%, with states like Vermont, Hawaii and Massachusetts now over 70%.

Experts said people hospitalized by the virus are unlikely to overwhelm health systems in Louisiana as they did in the past. Deaths and hospitalizations, which lag a few weeks behind surges in cases, will still rise, but at least some of the population -- including most seniors, who made up the majority of deaths before vaccines were available -- are protected by the vaccines...
Since the vaccines became available, over 99% of coronavirus deaths in Louisiana were in people who were unvaccinated. Just 27 of the 3,920 deaths were among people who were fully vaccinated, (Dr. Joe) Kanter (Louisiana Assistant Secretary of Health) said Thursday.

After age, it seems that obesity is the biggest determinant of risk from COVID.

Or is that a result of the weak and old having been innoculated so the Delta is in healthier hosts who fight it off better?
We just don’t know yet.
I think the first good evidence will be shortened hospitalizations- from UK.
I see a lot of studies are being done on protection of vax and natural infection against Delta, but they’re just done in a lab dish.
They show prev infection and one dose of vax is very good, as good as 2 doses of vax. But they do not reflect the whole immune response. Which I would expect to be better.

Delta definitely spreads significantly faster/more efficiently than the original COVID (higher Ro). As such, you need higher levels of immunity to achieve herd immunity, and choke off wild transmission (1 - 1/Ro) - closer to 80% immunity for Delta, compared to 60% for the original strain.
The two mutations that characterize it make it spread more effectively, but are not related to severity or lethality.
It may be that the lower severity and lethality that we are seeing in the USA, is more an effect of the most vulnerable people being mostly removed from the cases, due to vaccine protection.
Delta was plenty lethal when it first shot through India, with low vaccination rates among the elderly.
Everything they say about this virus is a lie.

Good point regarding the age demographic. It’s never encouraging to see hospitalizations ticking up, but the relatively younger people’s mortality should be lower.
I can’t help but wonder if the same effect is driving the perceived narrative that the Delta variant is less virulent. Hope not.

They have treatments available if they would only use them. Are you not following current events. CV19 was made in a lab. The PCR test is useless, proven numerous times by scientists and even the bloke who designed the test. The EUA was fraudulent because treatments are available. Tested, safe, used, approved. the jabs are not tested, approved nor do they even work against CV19.
The CV19 figures were all LIES, confirmed by the CDC themselves. SO those in ICUs may not even have the fake virus but some other ailment.
They are. They cannot tell if they are sick or not because that is one of the features of the jabs. Reduction of symptoms. That is the only claim to fame because the jabs have not been properly tested. If it reduces symptoms then you do not know you are sick so will go out and mingle thus spreading whatever you have. If you are feeling sick you tend to stay home. It is even required now to stay home if you are not feeling well.
So yes, they are the superspreaders because they have been injected with the virus, oh, the spike protein instructions which produces the most deadly part of the virus.
Cases mean nothing. The cases are based on the flawed PCR. Adjust the cycles and you get different results. Instead of case how many actually sick people there were before the jabs and after the jabs? That is more telling that a fake test result.
Wrong, I can bet you a soda that all the new cases are actually jab related adverse effects that they are trying to cover up. We all knew they would try to pull this nonsense months ago. This is the six month point where the ones jabbed in December will start to get sick.
This is why there was a big push to get all jabbed by July 4th. They knew a bow wave of sick and dying would start right around now. Too bad that they are being exposed now when it is only those infected catching whatever variants they claim is going around.

He makes a general case that the areas of the State with the lowest vaccination, had the highest case rates.
But for hospitalizations he was more specific - 96-97% unvaccinated.
