China announced Monday that children will only be allowed to play video games for 1 hour on Fridays, weekends, and holidays.
Gaming platforms can only offer online gaming to minors between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. on those days, according to the National Press and Publication Administration (NAAP). The new restrictions limit a previous rule that allowed children to play video games for 1.5 hours per day.

A majority of parents expressed their concern over minors' indulging in online gaming, which led to the previous restriction enacted in 2019, the state-run news agency Xinhua reported.
"Recently, many parents have reported that some teenagers' indulging in online games have seriously affected their normal study life and physical and mental health, and even caused a series of social problems," Xinhua stated in a Monday press release.
Along with the time slots, China will implement a real-name verification system where users will present their identification. Regulation of the new measures will also go into effect.
The NAAP urged families, schools, and social sectors to assume the responsibility of guardianship and provide environments conducive to "the healthy growth of minors."

Comparing weed and video games is one of the stupidest things I’ve seen recently here.
Aside from the industry being a $66.88 Billion industry, it teaches strategy, and cooperation in certain online games.
I have played since Atari 2600 in 1981 to PS4 now.
I had a TS/SCI clearance and an overall 99 on my ASVAB.
I qual’d for PJ Indoc, then went to University for ChemE and EE.
I sometimes spend that much time trying to reconnect to the internet. But I realize China is so far advanced, that that’s not a problem. They have made Windows Me work for 90% of the population.
Often children treated like that go apeshit when they leave for college.
Not all of course, but many.
Well, they are communists who control everything so why not video game exposure.

Very true, but needless to say, if any of our kids wanted to go away to college, they had to come up with the money, since we had acceptable local options. None did, but all did fine using our local, mostly commuter, schools.
But yea, the moment you send off your kids to college, you might as well write them off. Sure, a small percentage, maybe 10% can withstand the pressure-cooker atmosphere driving them to become hate-America Leftists, and no, it is not possible to be sure your kids will be in that 10%, not at all.
I’m glad things worked out. Once you get your piece of paper and first job, your experience will matter more than where your paper came from.
HR just needs to have boxes checked, and you need to possess soft skills for the interview.
It seems addictive. At first, I couldn't understand it myself, but I do like solving puzzles on paper. Then, several years ago, I bought a tablet, and I noticed it offered free videogames where you solve a mystery by solving puzzles. That's when I finally understood how people reach the point where they're always gaming. Luckily, I ran out of free games, or I'd still be playing. lol
What are those kids supposed to do with the other 40 or 50 hours in the week?
