That was my understanding of how the tax obligation would fall ... back to the counties and thus to people who pay property taxes would be on the hook to make up the revenue.
“the state will introduce taxes on Disney to replace these taxes,”
County, not state, issue.
“Florida has no state income taxes.”
***********
No, but it has property taxes….
[Please clarify. Every source I see still says debt goes tomcounties.]
Thank you! This is what I am hearing too, which is why I posted this question. While I agree that cancelling Disney’s special status to where it is on par with other businesses is a good thing, I am concerned about the financial collateral damage to citizens as a result, which the media will gladly spin against DeSantis, and risk turning off moderate, on the fence voters who don’t know the finer points of what’s going on.
If that was the case, Disney would be pushing for this law so they could dump a billion of debt.
This is a good thing to go after Disney and their grooming and H1B operation.

So both Disney and FL residents are going to be punished?
That’s about to go up. And they will no longer be in control of that city.
Florida has a income tax on businesses.
Florida does not have property taxes. Property taxes are collected by counties.
Yep, that is why I added post #9.
That is correct, but they also have homestead exemptions.
“collateral damage”
Daytona Beach Racing and Recreational Facilities District , Tampa Port Authority and more.
“but they also have homestead exemptions.”
Your point?
Disney should be clean family fun, not a hedonistic public orgy. They should be prosecuted for obscenity when they make it clear their intention is to sexualize and groom children.
Repealing some Executive Orders would get up back to decency:
After more research, this new bill does not apply to Chapter 190 communities and Chapter 189 communities can reorganize under 190. Disney can reorganize but I don’t have details.
According to the Villages statement, only five communities are affected by this bill:
• Hamilton County Development Authority
• East Point Water and Sewer District (Franklin County)
• Bradford County Development Authority
• Reedy Creek Improvement District aka Disney (Orange and Osceola Counties)
• Sunshine Drainage District (Broward County)
Disney will have to pay most of the taxes.
Not all property owners have to pay property taxes. That’s all. 🙂
it’s time ALL conservatives quit giving two you know whats about anything the media says. We need to govern as conservatives and give the bird to the media. Everything else comes out in the wash.
there’s no such thing as a moderate; they’re just clueless libs

Nope. Disney will pay their own debt. This wasn’t a corp transfer.
