Can someone explain this talking point liberals are pushing that the FL/Disney kerfluffle might raise taxes on Florida residents, as police, fire, and other "infrastructure" services would need to be provided by local/city forces?
Is this a legitimate consequence of the legislation, or of this just typical liberal fearmongering?
I haven’t studied it but what I think is really going on is that Disney will now have to pay property taxes but in return some of the costs that Reedy Creek was incurring will now be absorbed by the county(s) and state. IOW, the minimum it’s a wash but more likely the state (and tax payers) make out better.
Florida has no state income taxes.
Have not heard it out loud yet BUT it is a standard tactic; FUD (Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt!). Throw mud, everywhere and always in the hopes that some sticks!
Now, Disney is paying for those services directly.
After the legislation is passed, Disney would be paying more in taxes, paying for those services.
Seems that, if anything, taxes would go down as Disney will pay far more than just covering those services.

Not to worry, the county will charge Disney the correct amount to take care of their expenses. The county or counties involved could even slap a special use tax, like a bed tax, if they need more money and Disney would just add it on to their ticket price and all the gays that go there would be paying for it. Its a win win!
The big issue is that Disney has run up about $1 billion in debt for Reddy Creek.
Right now that debt has to be repaid by the Redd Creek taxpayers: Disney. If Reddy Creek is dissolved that debt gets transferred to the people of Florida.
DeSantis won’t let that happen.

Next. If disney got major tax breaks for landing in orlando then if the tax breaks go away. there is money there. Will the orlando area have to increase policing, etc. maybe.
Actually Disney owes huge amounts of undeveloped land that wasn’t being taxed.

It is my understanding that Orange County (where most of Disney is located) will be the recipient of a property tax bonanza.
