Is George P. Bush’s crushing defeat in Texas the end of the line for a Republican Party dynasty?
Fox News ^ | 9/25/22 | Paul Steinhauser

And in the wake of his defeat, Bush’s political future and the survival of his family’s brand are very much in doubt.

"History has shown there can be second acts in American politics, so I wouldn’t say never. But I think that he is politically greatly diminished from the results last night," longtime Texas based GOP strategist Brendan Steinhauser told Fox News.

And he predicted that in the short term "I think it’s more likely he goes into the private sector."

Matt Mackowiak, a veteran Austin, Texas-based Republican consultant and chair of Travis County GOP, said, "You can never count out anyone who can raise money, but George P. Bush’s political future is uncertain. I expect him to finish his term and return to private business as he considers his future. It’s not clear when another Bush family member will win elected office."

Bush is the son of former two-term Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, nephew to former President George W. Bush, and grandson of the late former President George H.W. Bush, whose move to the Lone Star State in 1948 ignited a new era in Texas Republican politics. The elder Bush won election to Congress in Texas before moving through government appointments and eventually being elected vice president in 1980, then president in 1992. His son George W. Bush was elected and re-elected governor before winning the White House in 2000.

The Bush family was GOP aristocracy for decades, but the brand lost its luster after President George W. Bush finished his second term with approval ratings well into negative territory. And the Bush family’s well documented war of words with former President Donald Trump during the 2016 Republican presidential primaries – when Trump repeatedly belittled, humiliated and crushed rival Jeb Bush en route to the nomination further diminished the

That dynasty should have ended in 1980, when Reagan crushed Bush in the presidential primaries. But Reagan resuscitated it when he chose Bush to be his running mate—the worst decision of his political career.

One can only hope.......

There are still lots of Bush League Republicans in Congress and state legislatures dedicated to turning the USA into North Mexico so that the USA can be subsumed to the UN in a New World Order.

I am not sure that George P is that terrible a person, but his family’s name has degraded over time. Sadly, its their own fault. Dubya failed to stand up for his party and those that voted for him and Jeb is a close 2nd. Unforced and did not have to be this way.

Since the 1980 Presidential Election every presidential election except 2 which includes 2020 had either a Bush or Clinton involved in the race, including a couple when they included a Bush and Clinton.

I’m totally sick of both of the families, the faster they are gone the better off this country will be.

Probably so...I do not believe in political dynasties. No one should be elected to office simply because they come from a family with a famous name and with other office holders. Nor, however, do I believe someone is automatically disqualified from office just because other members of their family have held office. They do, however, have even more to prove that they are worthy of the office they seek. George P. Bush should have ran for an office like State Representative or State Senate to prove he has the stuff first for political leadership and he was his own man and not just running for office on a famous name. Land Commissioner was purely an administrative office - that didn’t show he could cut it in an office like Attorney General.

Yeb couldn’t effectively reply to a little campaign trash-talking. Glad a weakling like him got sent packing.

article: "… chair of Travis County GOP, said, ‘You can never count out anyone who can raise money.’"

Daddy Jeb spent 150 million dollars in the primaries. And all he got for his money was 3 delegates, and a lousy ¡Jeb! tee shirt.

The Bushes are evil. The tan one will rise from the grave again and again until Peter Cushing drives a stake through its heart.

W's wife and daughters are all liberal. W is now cool with mainstream media.

P never had a chance. So he can blame his uncle for destroying his political future. His father may be a dork but he's not really to blame.

His greatest political liability was his last name.
