She’s haunted by her decision. This is an external attempt to rationalize her internal misery. It may look like she’s advocating, but I think she realizes the reality attached to this horrific act. Its actually the endless litany of excuses she repeats to herself - with the hope she may eventually forgive/redeem herself.
It does not seem to be successful, thus far.
