Russian officials say their air defense systems repelled another attempt by the Ukrainian military to strike the Antonovsky bridge, a key structure that crosses the Dnieper river into the occupied city of Kherson.
“There were no strikes on the bridge. There were attempts, but everything was repelled by the air defense system. Nothing flew on the bridge at all, these are all fakes,” Kirill Stremousov, deputy head of the region’s civil military administration, told Russian state news agency TASS.
Ukraine has been conducting strikes on bridges in the area for several weeks now, hoping to cut off supplies to Russian troops in Kherson ahead of an announced counteroffensive.
Traffic across the Antonovsky bridge was stopped altogether on July 27, according to TASS.
Over the past week, Russian state media and social media footage showed Moscow’s forces transporting people across the Dnieper river in makeshift pontoon ferries, circumventing the disabled bridges.

Most armies that intend to occupy or re- occupy an area don’t destroy the bridges they themselves will need to advance
Maybe the Ukes arent quite confident they would be welcomed as liberators in an oblast 84% under Russian control or influence, whose Russian speaking population has for years been treated punitively as sub human by Kiev, and that is considering a referendum to join the Russian Federation once the threat of retaliation is reduced
It’s going to be hilarious to watch all of the videos of the Buryats and Syrians currently trapped in Kherson trying to swim across the Dnieper to escape to Crimea. LOL!
Temporarily… lol. That region is gone
The Buryats, Dagestanis and Syrians trapped in Kherson are already foraging for swim rings and inflatable toys for their great retreat across the Dnieper to Crimea. And guess who’s waiting for them on the left bank? Chechens with shoot to kill orders! LOL!
Kherson pro-Ukrainian protests under Russian occupation

So what he’s saying is that the Ukrainians have destroyed the bridge. Good to know.
“Most armies that intend to occupy or re- occupy an area don’t destroy the bridges they themselves will need to advance”
This isn’t about the advance of the Ukrainian army it’s about cutting off the primary supply route for the Russia army that is now trapped on the west side of the Dneiper River. It also means that the Russian troops won’t be able to evacuate their armor for a retreat.
The rockets didn’t hit the bridge. They went straight through and hit the water below.
Ukraine SitRep - Casualties Leak - Ukraine Admits Russian Breakthrough - Southern Front Paralysis
> New Moon of Alabama
There is an report on Ukraine making the rounds that was allegedly written by the higher command of the Ukrainian army and leaked from somewhere.
Ukrainian channels are discussing what might be a leaked data from AFU General Staff:
- The AFU are only at 43-48% strength
- medical workers at their limit
- small arms and armor are not enough
- 191 thousand soldiers were killed and wounded (only AFU, not including others)
- there is not enough hydraulics and liquid nitrogen for M777 howitzers
- no one cares about the missing - there are no statistics
- the equipment transferred by the West is running out
- western weapons are operated by amateurs, since there are no qualified specialists
- no way to repair weapons on the spot due to the lack of spares and specialists - everything is sent to Poland
BTW, even with this dire report, I would caution against predicting a decisive break in morale. As with Peski, the walking wounded are sent straight back into the trenches
There are some pictures of documents written in cyrillic script attached to the above tweet.
The documents look legit. The overall numbers and issues mentioned seem plausible to me.

I think Ukraine might be writing off Crimea, at least for the time being. However, driving the Russians back onto the peninsula, and cutting them off from direct contact with Eastern Ukraine, makes sense. But, we’ll see.
Was this before or after Kiev cut off Kherson from all Ukrainian banking and stopped paying salaries and pensions?
( which Russia restored using Russian banking. The ruble is now the currency used in Kherson. Kherson is also using Russian internet and Russian telecomms)
Note that it was not Russia that cut Kherson off from food, water, electricity,
banking, internet, cell phones and other services after the war started
Russian passports are issued to those who want them though the Kiev govt has issued warnings that any cooperation with Russia will be severely punished

This was AFTER the Russian army invaded and occupied Kherson. Pro-Ukrainians protests were broken up by the Russians using tear gas, beatings and arrests.

Ok, so after the city was cut off from all services by Kiev.
Hearts and minds sure to follow
LOL, sure everyone wants to live in a Russian police state.
The Russian speakers can always vote to be treated as sub humans in the eyes of free and democratic Kiev!
Sure its 'sub human' to learn the language of the country you live in. Okay
I know that you guys aren’t known for high intelligence but there are countries managing to cope with more than one language without ethnic cleansings like Swiss or Canada.
And of you have the choice to live without or with banking, social security, Qatar and electricity on top of that then the choice is obvious.
LOL, is Russia one of those countries?
Did you travel across Russia? There are 37 state languages officially recognized.
