As summer comes to a close, we turn our collective attention toward the colder months of the year and Farmers’ Almanac’s trusty predictions but unfortunately, it’s not looking good!

A colder-than-usual winter is expected to arrive much sooner: good news for snow lovers, but not so good for the rest of us!

According to the outlet’s extended forecast, the United States can expect quite a few winter weather disturbances throughout the season. The Farmers’ Almanac goes into specific dates, including:

Overall, the Farmers’ Almanac predicts a snow-heavy winter across the nation. Those in highest cold-weather peril will find themselves in the middle of an active storm track that is predicted to run from the western Gulf of Mexico all the way to the northeast, across the Virginias and touching upon New York state and New England, all areas that are used to bracing for the coldest winter across the country. …

Don’t tell me we’re gonna get snow here in Upstate New York.

Hopefully Albany will be shut down until Spring. That will limit the amount of damages the critters can do.

Ellendra :" And it might be a good idea to map out where the water pipes are,
and know how to drain them so they don’t freeze and break.
Pipes along exterior walls will freeze first."

True that, especially if you lose power and/or heat
Also, learn from the "Ten Days Texas Freeze"(TDTF) frozen pipes situation,
to open up the cabinet doors underneath kitchen and bathroom sinks to ambient warmer room air.
Moving water will not freeze, so allow faucets to drip slowly like once per second

Invest in tea candles, Sterno heaters, camping lanterns, but be aware of carbon monoxide buildup in the room.
Flashlights are handy, but battery operated headlamps are more useful and versatile, as long as you have a supply of batteries on hand.

Wisdom in your post.
Sometimes these days wisdom is not widespread.

“Snow in Florida?”

We are going on 73 straight days of 90 or above. Looks like we will be adding to that for the next 7 days.

I love summer!

Born & raised on the MS GOM. Might I ask which town? You can just give me a hint & I will know it. I haven't been back home in almost 10 years! I miss the food & USM home games!!
PS - heard the first V line of Canadian geese go overhead here in SC just yesterday. Made me realize I sorta missed hearing them.

Gulfport - just West of Biloxi-Gulfport line - condos along 90 - the Gulf is right across the street and I like to go to the Popps Ferry Road Causeway early in the mornings.

My son lives just outside Charleston SC

Nice to meet you! Send me a private message if you want to say more than you wish to be public! I miss the area! Awesome to meet you!
