From Ruling Class to Oligarchy
American Greatness ^

Posted on 09/12/2022 9:08:14 AM PDT by Tench_Coxe

By its campaign and conduct of the 2020 election, the ruling class ceased pretending to be part of a constitutional republic. By treating fellow Americans as inferiors through word and deed, its members renounced their common citizenship with us. Eschewing persuasion, they set about compelling obedience to an openly manipulated election.

Reposting because I think we need to be reminded what we are dealing with. Its one of the last articles by Angelo Codevilla. Just look at what has transpired in the last two years. Does it leave any doubt?

Note that Codevilla penned this prior to January 2021, and now we have an installed figurehead declaring half of the US a threat to "our democracy". Nobody pins down Biden on whose 'democracy' he is talking about. And McConnell's silence speaks volumes.

While we get our pockets picked and forums (online and otherwise) spammed/censored/cancelled, our nation is being stolen from us by parasites. And while not yet kinetic, the same ruling class is waging war against what is supposedly its own people. And think of who your 'leadung lights' are: Joe Scarborough, Barack Obama, Klaus Schwab, Justin Trudeau, Jacinda Ardern, Cornpop Biden, 'Joy' Reid, 'Joy' Behar, Nancy Pelosi...the list goes in and on, not to mention the people who prefer to stay out if the limelight like Ron Klain and David Brock....

Vote like your life depends on it, because it probably does.

Aristocracy (rule by the best few) descends into oligarchy (rule by the worst few).

And from oligarchy comes dictarship.

A classic example is the end of the Roman Republic.

The Annals of Tacitus

Augustus won over the soldiers with gifts, the populace with cheap corn, and all men with the sweets of repose, and so grew greater by degrees, while he concentrated in himself the functions of the Senate, the magistrates, and the laws. He was wholly unopposed, for the boldest spirits had fallen in battle, or in the proscription, while the remaining nobles, the readier they were to be slaves, were raised the higher by wealth and promotion, so that, aggrandised by revolution, they preferred the safety of the present to the dangerous past. Nor did the provinces dislike that condition of affairs, for they distrusted the government of the Senate and the people, because of the rivalries between the leading men and the rapacity of the officials, while the protection of the laws was unavailing, as they were continually deranged by violence, intrigue, and finally by corruption.
