Return to the Draft
Selective Service System ^ | 1973 | Selective Service System

Posted on 10/14/2022 5:06:33 AM PDT by hardspunned

Overview of What Would Occur if the United States Returned to a Draft:

1. Draft Authorization: Congress and the President

A national emergency, exceeding the Department of Defense’s capability to recruit and retain its total force strength, requires Congress to amend the Military Selective Service Act to authorize the President to induct personnel into the Armed Forces.

2. Activation of Selective Service System

Selective Service activates and orders all personnel to report for duty. Reserve Force Officers, along with selected military retirees, begin to open Area Offices to accept registrant claims. Local, District Appeal, and National Board members are notified to report for refresher training.

3. The Lottery

A publicly attended, nationally televised and live-streamed lottery is conducted. The lottery, a random drawing of birthdays and numbers, establishes the order in which individuals receive orders to report for induction. The first to receive induction orders are those whose 20th birthday falls during the year of the lottery. If required, additional lotteries are conducted for those 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 19, and finally 18.5 years-old. Learn more here.

4. Orders to Report to MEPS

Induction notices are sent and registrants may now make claims if desired for a postponement, deferment or exemption. Inductees report to a local Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) for induction. At MEPS, registrants are given a physical, mental, and moral evaluation to determine whether they are fit for military service. Once notified of the results of the evaluation, a registrant will either be inducted into military service or sent home.

I used to think that but the woke military is changing my thoughts. Those who would normal join the military are being targeted and trashed once they join for their skin color alone. Why would anyone sign up for abuse like that.

The other problem is with the warrior class saying fine you don’t want me I’m gone what’s left is the apolitical types and the leftist and why would any of this bunch join a military which they have been told fights for a racist and evil country.

I have two sons of military service age and I have told them stay out, you are not wanted unless you are willing to put up with bigotry and hate for your skin color and treated like dirt and they have chosen other careers. That being said if a draft was reinstituted I would do everything I could to prevent them from serving in woke military for the corrupt globalists and the even worse deep state incompetents.

In 2022, serving on a draft board is likely to be a death sentence.

So, you know what the future holds then?

No, but I know how millions of Americans think and how they live their lives.

If you have the time and the patience, you can comb through COVID-related threads all the way back to March 2020 and see what I was forecasting as the progression of events since then. Not to brag, but I've probably been accurate on at least 95% of the predictions I've made over the last two and a half years.

One big difference in 1916 is that military service was very common among Americans -- going back many generations.

The Vietnam War ended the delusional love affair most Americans had with the military.

I'd also point out that modern western countries today might have the most risk-averse populations in the history of the human race. Look around in public today at all the retardates walking around with diapers on their faces, and ask yourself if anyone within five branches of them on a family tree would even risk walking outside after dark, let alone allowing themselves to be shipped off to boot camp.

Draft board will be a single entity in D.C. very soon into the draft, for this very reason (and the likelihood certain boards will declare their entire population unfit for service a.k.a. nullification).

My understanding was that Canada will not be an option in any future Draft.

Right. Sure you do.

I've zero interest in trying to substantiate such a ludicrious claim.

Then let’s place a bet on it. Put your money where your mouth is.

You made the claim, the burden of proof is on you, not me.

You made the claim, the burden of proof is on you, not me.

I gave you the tools to find the evidence yourself.

In terms of the "bet" I suggested, I wasn't referring to my claim. I was referring to my prediction about the draft.

I gave you the tools to find the evidence yourself.

Again, you're the one that made the claim, it's on you to back it up. Clearly you don't get that and I've no more time for your wild-ass unsubstantiated and unproven claims.

I am against any conscription under any circumstances whatsoever, even moreso in a situation that could have been avoided.

Read an idea years ago that all wars should be voted on by those eligible to fight in them and if the yes to war wins, those who voted yes go first, those who didn’t vote go next and those who voted against go last.

Think it might cut down on getting involved in shit that isn’t our business more than a little bit

Go back and take a look at how popular our previous drafts were before they were reimplemented. I’m sure glad we have an all knowing source to put our minds at ease. Thank you for not making the first attempt to explain your decree. No one wants to think about hard questions like where the DC warmongers will get the cannon fodder to make the Ruskies pay, non nuclear, mind you, after the next escalation. Do you have Barry’s wand to waive to cure the current recruitment and retention calamity? When the Chicoms move on Taiwan are you going to sell Taipei out by not honoring the big guy’s pledge to back them up? Meddlesome questions for you to ignore.

I registered in ‘74. My draft would have been in ‘76, the last year the numbers were drawn. April, 3 was number 08.

I don’t believe there will be a draft because I believe there is a lack of unity of purpose for those of draftable age, let alone society at large. A large group of people simply won’t serve in a military role.

Maybe there is a place for a non-military service, but even then, I believe a unity of purpose will result in less than favorable results.

If people are not willing to service with very good educational benefits post-discharge that includes tuition, books, BAQ, etc, I find it difficult to imagine that such people can be compelled to military service.
