Yeah, haha, I won’t go anywhere without a weapon anymore, and always have the pistol when in the woods. (I have not been out with the rifle in some time because it’s too conspicuous.)
Although these stories are still intimidating. The guy didn’t even see, but only heard the bear, until it was right on top of him.
I’m glad he survived.

I always carry when I go hiking. Out in nature, we are not at the top of the food chain. I wouldn’t consider going out in nature unarmed.

I spend lots of time in the Montana back country. I roll a Springfield XD-M 10mm in a chest rig. I still feel under gunned (bcz I am for a griz that means biz) The bears are in hyperphagia right now as they fatten up for hibernation. The blacks are big sissies for the most part but the grizz are aggressive, will rip your head off and don’t give AF. Head on a swivel, no ear buds in, make noise, etc and figure out a way to practice shooting targets coming at you at 35mph wanting to kill you.
