Hold the Line" is a song by American rock band Toto from their 1978 eponymous debut studio album. Written by the band's keyboardist David Paich, the lead vocals on the song were performed by Bobby Kimball.

"Hold the Line" was released as the band's debut single and lead single from the Toto album on October 2, 1978, by Columbia Records. It reached number five on the Billboard Hot 100, and number 14 on the UK Singles Chart.

Toto was a much maligned band (by the critics) but this was a great debut song by them. Never gets old.

My personal favorite by Toto was "99" that was a hit early in 1980. "Africa" in 1982 was perhaps their biggest hit, made more popular recently by the "Stranger Things" TV show.

They look a bit gay, and DEFINITELY not diverse.

Back when people were thin.

For some reason I don’t see Lukather or Porcaro in either of those pics. Or am I just not recognizing them?

TOTO IV is my favorite album with a tossup between Rosanna and Africa as best song. The sleeper song award goes to I Won’t Hold You Back, expertly analyzed by Rick Beato here:

Toto was actually made up some of the best studio musicians of the time who worked on numerous other recordings. Probably the most famous was their backing of Michael Jackson on his “Thriller” album which is one of the biggest selling albums of all time.

Good choice on 99.

It takes real talent to turn Chopsticks into a #1 hit :D

Love me some Toto! Sometimes I just have to hear:

Hydra was the only Toto album I really liked.

If you have an hour or two to spare, check out all the records Steve Lukather played on in the 80s.

IMHO Lukather’s best solo is The Tubes’ “Talk To Ya Later”.

Toto had six members on the first album:
Lukather, 2 Poccaros, Hungate, Paich, and Kimball... not the 7 strangers of Chicago you posted above.

The first version of "Human Nature" was written and composed by Steve Porcaro of Toto.

Your not old. You are experienced. I had just finished installing some 6X9 coaxial speakers in the back of my friends 1974 camaro and that was the first song we played. Cranked that sucker up and vibrated the windows.

The drum track on Rosanna is the best triplet groove ever recorded.
