Should Russia Free Jailed WSJ Reporter in Exchange for USA Dropping ALL Charges Against Julian Assange?

[NOTE: I just posted the following message on Twitter.]

Just a thought here: How about if Russia agrees to free the jailed WSJ reporter [Evan Gershkovich] in exchange for the USA dropping ALL charges against Julian Assange so he too can become a FREE man? This offer by Putin would put the ball in Biden's court.

Whether or not Biden agrees to the deal, it helps Putin's image. And with that image improvement he would have enough prestige to make a PEACE deal with Ukraine to end that DANGEROUS war and prevent a possible nuclear holocaust.

This is even beyond freeing a couple of journalists. This is ultimately about PREVENTING WWIII, a war in which there would be NO winners, only LOSERS. So Mr. Putin, please make the offer. WSJ reporter's release in exchange for USA dropping ALL charges against Assange.

There’s absolutely NOTHING the USA would ever trade to free someone who could rat out the Clintons, Obama, etc...

They will launch WWIII before they release Assange.

Putin does not want a negotiated peace with Ukraine.

Because before it would have been seen as him losing face. However, if he is able obtain the freedom of Assange he gains enough face to give him room to settle for peace and enhance his prestige even more by claiming he wanted to prevent WWIII. If Biden nixes the prisoner deal, then who ends up looking like the bad guy?

Assange wasn’t in the Bolivian embassy. Wasn’t it Equador?

Trump not pardoning Assange was a stain on his presidency.

Now we're expecting Biden to do it?

Kinda asinine in my opinion. What is Russia’s incentive ?

Would be very much better to allow the deepstate whistleblower patriot Edward Snowden a clear airing (PDJT should absolutely have pardoned given the nature of the crimes by the US federal government which his charges are and were designed to cover up!)

I tend to agree with you. It’s been asked why should Putin do this? To me the answer is just to embarrass Biden is motive enough.

The real question that no journalist will ask Joe is How’s the dementia going today?

The reason Assange’s name is the more relevant for a trade is the issue of journalism.

The fit is proper.
