NY homeowner had stand-off with cops, showed ‘no remorse’ over Kaylin Gillis shooting: sheriff

Mauser also told CNN he had been told by Monahan there were mulitple vehicles which pulled into his driveway, including a motorcycle, and that they were “revving engines [and] coming up the driveway at a high rate of speed.”

He claimed this “created an atmosphere and a fear that there was menace going on,” for Monahan.

Mauser said he was informed of Gillis’ death and the charge his client was facing after he made contact with authorities. It was then he made arrangements for Monahan to surrender, the attorney said.

Monahan is accused of firing from his porch after the car carrying Gillis and her three pals turned into his driveway at about 10 p.m., one of which struck the 20-year-old as the car she was in was on its way to exit the property, according to the sheriff.

The friends fled the property and called 911 from the neighboring town of Salem, but Gillis was already dead by the time help arrived.

The sheriff previously said Monahan had no reason to open fire on the vehicle – noting no one had exited the car in the driveway before the shots rang out.

turned into his driveway at about 10 p.m.

Nothing good happens at 10pm and thereafter. Whether knocking on strangers doors or driving up stranger's driveways.

Darwin sees all. He’s got a really overloaded awards distribution problem. Good thing they can be posthumously delivered.

Doesn’t justify the shooting, but it certainly helps explain it.

It is possible that Mr. Monahan finds his new accommodations at Attica somewhat less comfortable, scenic and posh.

Horrible outcome. On another note, we’re all so lucky she was white.

In real estate, they would say that Mr. Monahan is downsizing and will gentrify his new gated community.

but what about the other members of the car load of young adults. were they all blonde young women?
sounds like a forced entry attack by members of an inner city gang of yutes... led by a harley quinn type of criminal master mind.

we have “yutes” that reconnoiter by car, using probing, planning and response patterns of higher end housing areas... and they are NOT innocent when they pull in the drive way or park on the road side up 100 yards... she’s a tatted blonde and hangs out with multiple other adults after 10 pm in parts of town, she may not know.

suspicious tresspassing incursion... just like the chinese balloon.

Gillis and her three pals

what is this... one blonde with three inner city gang bangers?
innocently parking in a more remote drive way unknown to them after 10 pm, dark thirty?

This guy sounds like he’s been harassed by unwelcome visitors and simply flipped, and he’ll pay.

We live in Wyoming. Our original road to access the house was two miles long. Every inch of it private. We have a sign at the gate that gives a number to call in case we have a delivery or visitors.

And since 2010 we get a pretty steady stream of people driving past the gate, the signs, and not noticing that the mostly one lane road is not a state highway.

So far they’ve all done this during the day. And we are armed when we greet them and turn them around.

If someone were full enough to rush this place at 10pm at night the result would be predictable.

And where we live in Wyoming no one would care.

“suspicious tresspassing incursion... “

Dunno. I looked at his property via Google aerial view. 1263 Patterson Hill Rd, Salem, NY. This is not some ordinary suburban area with normal driveways. I could see how people could get lost out there.

This guy was used to the sound of motorcycles in the 1980s when he was a professional motorcycle racer who competed nationally in the Camel Pro Series.

Well, Joe Biden’s advice was a shotgun.
Because he has thinking “asshole weapon”.

The kids were at the very end of an unproved driveway about 100 yards from the home in the picture. Their presence may have irritated this dope but they posed no reasonable threat, certainly nothing that warranted shooting.
