Arkansas dad is arrested for piercing son's ear in state where body art is banned on children under 16 regardless of parental consent - as viral arrest video shows FIVE cops barging into family home

Police in Arkansas were caught on camera barging into a family home to arrest the father - after he pierced his son's ears.

Jeremy Sherland, 45, of Tontitown, is seen on the viral video scoffing and laughing as five police officers arrest him inside his home, while his wife and son protest.

Sherland is heard saying: 'Body art without a license!' His son, who films the encounter, yells at the police at one point: 'I wanted my ears pierced!'

The situation began when the boy was seen in class with a piercing in his left ear.

He was overheard saying his father was drunk and put him in a chokehold, then 'shoved the piercing in his ear,' according to the police.

A Springdale police school resource officer contacted the Tontitown Police Department on Thursday about conducting a welfare check.

Tontitown officers went to the family home, and Sherland admitted to piercing his son's ear, but would not let them speak to his son or answer questions.

Police then returned with an arrest warrant, issued by the prosecuting attorney for Washington County, Matt Durrett.

Under Arkansas law, it is forbidden to 'perform body art on a person under 16 years of age, regardless of parental consent.'

It is also illegal 'to perform body art in any unlicensed facility.'

Violation of this law is a Class D felony.

When I was a teen boys and girls had ears pierced all the time.

Not one single girl wanted to cut off her tits, and not one single boy wanted to cut off his dick. Nor was it allowed to my knowledge.

Just saying.

Five cops busting into a house over a pierced ear?? How was this justified ever? Is there some custody battle going on over the teenager, and the police chief is playing White Knight for her? Absolutely bonkers, and scary, knowing American police have now lowered their standards of procedure to 3rd World levels.

Okay. I read the article and got more facts. It’s still a crazy overreaction.

In some states these same cops will be busting down your door to ensure that your child’s gender is affirmed, whether you as a parent want 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 child’s gender “affirmed” or not.

His son, who films the encounter, yells at the police at one point: 'I wanted my ears pierced!'

Sounds like a fag, but that's none of my business.

Piercing, be it ears, nose, nipples cheeks, tongue or.....aah.... is a barbaric custom.

Marks the victim as a more primitive form of life. Like tattooing.

OK, some of my forebears were Puritans. Not ashamed of that.

an arrest warrant, issued by the prosecuting attorney
I was under the impression a warrant had to be issued by a judge. Someone familiar with the law, please clarify?

I believe an arrest warrant is an application from the DA or assistant DA to the court which must be signed off by a judge. So if I am not mistaken, technically the prosecutors request the warrant. A judge may refuse to sign it if the attorney cannot convince his or her honor that probable cause for an arrest exists.

I think it had more to do with attempted murder. But who am I to ruin a good histrionic episode.

Agree. Barbarians have taken over the world.

The human race is devolving to primitive, evil and decadent mores. And the democrats call themselves progressives.
