Self | 05/30/2023 | Self

. Due to the agreed upon rules of the House Rules Committee- one Republican can stop the entire Deal with a simple Vote - Thomas Massie.

The other votes are already there to stop it in the Rules Committee.

One Man - says he a Fiscal Hawk - a Conservative Republican can easily stop it before it starts.

They told us this is why we needed to vote Republicans in to Win the House.

I have no idea about what Massie will do — but I will observe that I have known many people who would say, “I’m gonna give in, just this one time, because you have to know when to pick your battles.” It’s been my experience that people who do say that sort of thing actually give in every single time and just never decide to ever give battle.

Massie is an eccentric. You can’t reason with an eccentric. Massie is a less eccentric version of Justin Amash.

He is a Trump hater and a card carrying member of the Swamp, who holds the concept of upheaval of that Swamp as something horrible.

Which is why McCarthy put him there.

Well I mean if he sits there all day and criticizes Trump for the CARES Act , he surely must be ready to bury this piece of trash bill...no?

Where is Bobert, MTG, JORDAN?
All too often The problem with voting for Republicans is you don’t get conservatives with a voting record to match their rhetoric. Same thing when you try to get blood out of a turnip

I think you need to reevaluate your judgement of Massie.

He certainly had issues with things Trump did. So did I.

The CARES act was one of the worst pieces of legislation in US history. It is one of the main causes of our inflation and terrible economy.

He was also critical of Trump pushing and praising the failed vaccines.

As far as I know, Massie never believed the Russia hoax or supported either of the impeachments or even criticized Trump for any personality issues.

Like Rand Paul, he is a libertarian purist and didn’t like when Trump did anti-libertarian things. That doesn’t make him a “Trump hater” and certainly not a member of the swamp.

I predict he will make the right decision here if he truly does have the power to affect it.

Interesting.

Trump policies are of the sort where . . . you take him seriously or you take him literally. The literal folks want the conversation to be traditional politics, and that’s not what Trump is about.

He is a disruptor. He seeks to render traditional politicians as something to be held in contempt rather than their perpetual self-declaration of noble defenders of America.

Clearly the Swamp will hate that. Anyone, no exceptions, in politics over 6 years is part of the Swamp. Afraid that includes him.

McCarthy knew who and what was on the Rules Committee when he was negotiating to get the votes he needed to become Speaker.
