This is a spectacular account of the events leading
up to and through the Allied Forces'
invasion of Normandy, France
on D-Day (June 6), 1944 to fight the occupying Germans. The film is particularly interesting because it looks at D-Day through the eyes of all of the participants, including the Germans, who are overwhelmed by the forces brought...

You’ll probably find this interesting. After watching 24 hours of this I realized that all 24 hours were covered by watching The Longest Day.

I remember that movie. Tough to find a more star studded cast of the time. If you've never seen it take the time to.

John Wayne
Henry Fonda
Robert Mitchum
Sean Connery
Eddie Albert
Curd Jürgens
Richard Todd
Richard Burton
Peter Lawford
Rod Steiger
Irina Demick
Gert Fröbe
Edmond O'Brien
Kenneth More

Great movie and even greater book.
By the time it was over, I was cheering and crying for soldiers on both sides and booing German Generals and more than 1 Allied General.

The German pilot. Berated his superior over his stupidity. Wish I had his balls.

The same stupidity is evident in corporate America. Just look at Bud Light.

Good movie. I recommend the book by Cornelius Ryan. The Last Battle was quite good too.

I love the scene in the movie where the French guy is jumping for joy at the Allies storming the beach and everything around him is getting shelled.

Wayne was completely miscast in the movie. At 55, Wayne was 28 years older than Lt. Col. Benjamin H. Vandervoort was on D-Day (and 10 years older than he was in 1962).

Thankfully it’s not the version with the German actors speaking English. Much better when they speak their native language.

I love the scene that is POV of the French farmhouse window, looking towards the coast and the German soldier on the mule, toting coffee to the bunkers. Then the shore bombardment begins.
