History cannot repeat itself but it often rhymes!

I’m not equating any specific meaning here — just that Summer’74 was a very exciting time in my young life. I worked for 8 or so brilliant engineers at a large company in So. Cal., and after a year or so of the Nixon “problem” discussed at length around the water cooler and beyond daily, Nixon got news from Republican Party Judiciary Committee that he would soon be “impeached”. Big news, let me tell you. Had there been champagne allowed in the office we’d have finished it off.

It’s not that we hated Nixon - just seeing that relief from the daily news cycle for all will soon be had. It had to be done. As we all know Nixon was Not impeached but instead 13 days later .....
Nixon resigned. (August 9, 1974)

Mmmm, will tomorrow (July 27, 2023) start a new cycle?

btw, Nixon Gallup Poll approval rating at a low of 24 on that day.
