I have a friend on Maui, lived there for decades, and knows a lot of people. It is known what started the fires. She’s also been bringing food to the firefighters, and talking to them. There is no mystery about these fires.
Of course anyone is free to post whatever they want.

ThankQ LJ, for the info; good to have accurate reporting from your friend!
So do I.
There is no mystery about these fires.
Nope.

Why don't you post it here then?
Native Hawaiians have a lot of rights, arguably more than any other group in America, including blacks and indians, thanks to Senator Danial Inouye who spent almost 50 years in the Senate trading votes for such advantages for his people. Inouye often teamed with Senator Ted Stevens of Alaska on these deals (40+ years in Senate). Hence, Native Alaskans are (according to my business associates in Hawaii) the only group on that same level of "Special" protections and programs as native Hawaiians.
Native Hawaiians, in general, do not appreciate outsiders with money usurping all their most wonderful areas. They have some potent legal tools for protecting what they have not yet lost.
Is the following true? (from another FR thread)"Lahaina is considered to be a historic and sacred land. It was the capital of the Kingdom of Hawaii before it was taken by the United States. It’s been occupied by native Hawaiians ever since who are defiantly opposed to the mainland outsiders who have been buying up land with no respect for local culture. Not just BlackRock and Vanguard, but Billionaires like Mark Zuckerberg who owns more land on Kauai than what the government of Kauai owns."
That is why, for me, this is very suspicious. It fits into a long term struggle.
