That would be the optimistic assessment, I think. More likely, if more pessimistic, is that what we're experiencing is God's judgment.

Maybe, although that would be a sad belief if the millions, if not billions, of truly innocent people on this Earth are forced to suffer along.

Absent Christ, no one is truly "innocent." With Christ, these present sufferings are ultimately of no account.

Meanwhile, putting one's hope, much less trust, in man (or any man) to address the problems created by man himself is a fool's errand -- i.e., the Mitch McConnells of this world are small dust in the balance.
