Male artists had a higher median yearly income of $30-40K(poor), while female-identifying and non-binary identifying respondents shared the median yearly income of $20-30K.

I would argue that artists are profoundly exploited.

Conclusion: There's no money in it so they become leftists. Real work is hard- life's a bitch so they turn to their 'protectors' in government. They got the music. It soothes the savage beast and we're at a disadvantage with those 'beautiful people'.

Can’t blame a woman for thinking her nude body is a work of art. It’s a siren call for the rest of us.

We exist within a system of racial capitalism

Do we?

I really wanted to be a writer. I’ve written fourteen novels, several of which are on Amazon.com. But I realized there was no money in it. So, after a three-year hiatus to pursue my dream, I went back to a job I hated. Facing reality is hard. The problem with someone who is “nonbinary” or whatever, is they are already not dealing with reality. So expecting them to realize nobody wants their “art” is probably too much. What an ego it must take to be angry at the world because the world doesn’t like your “art.” What that means is, in reality, your “art” doesn’t appeal to the potential market. Maybe the sane, hetero world pays ordinary, well adapted people for their art because that art resonates with the market and the market the art produced by non-binary people only appeals to non-binary people.

The problem with art and capitalism is that capitalism gravitates towards and rewards high quality.

Odd. Some art works sell for $millions. Some artists receive massive commissions, grants, patronage. If I think of myself as an “artist” does that obligate others to give me their money?

I would argue that artists are profoundly unnecessary, at least in the quantity that our universities produce them.

Wow! Posing questions that have only been posed by millions of pot-addled college students on dorm hallway floors across the country.

From this Student Media at Georgia Tech.... An opinion. Nothing more.
This is the ultimate rebellion against a 'productivist' world in which artists struggle to coexist with capitalism.
The idiocy of this is apparent. Artists produce. Artists sell their works. Some are very successful while most are not "productive" financially. But this litte -- very little -- editorial is the symptomn of a larger "student" game -- rebellion. Because anti-capitalism has always worked out so well before. < s a r c >

She is a fool. "We risk selling out when our job is to please the consumer." So? Don't "please" people. Piss them off, and then expect them to support you? Young, female, white liberal fool.

A fine argument for why governments (local to federal) should get out of the sponsoring of "public art."

> Male artists had a higher median yearly income

Does that factor in the way Hunter Biden’s “art” skews the average?

My ex married one. He was one of the FEW who could make a living doing what he loves. Still he just got by.

He ended up doing what too many artists do. He stuck his meat where it didn’t belong. She had little sympathy for any guy who’s able to follow his path.

It’s gotta be their ‘free spirit’.

In the meantime the elected leftists are there to cover for them and we’re left holding the bag.

The MFA is notorious for being particularly useless. You need it to get your foot in the door of literary fiction, but at best you get to be an adjunct teaching MFA courses.

The Oscars. Such an educational endeavor-we learn so much. The viewing level has gone down to it’s proper level.

Add into that that “Little Johnny is SPECIAL!!! We’re going to put his art (scribblings) on the fridge and praise him for being SOOooooo talented.”

Then little Johnny grows up, decides his name is Joanie and since he’s always been told he can do no wrong, (s)he thinks the world will gobble up his/her dreck.

(Basically, the Hunter Biden story minus the sex change.)

Make artists making more than females is probably due to more galleries being owned by straight women and gay men.

I would argue that artists are profoundly exploited.

I would argue that most "artists" are profoundly talentless.

This writer in particular reminds me of Ellsworth Toohey's collection of talent-free Marxists in The Fountainhead - curated by him to destroy Western Civilization rather than uphold it.
