polio vaccine, preparation of poliovirus given to prevent polio, an infectious disease of the nervous system. The first polio vaccine to be widely used in humans, known as inactivated poliovirus vaccine (IPV) or Salk vaccine, was developed in the early 1950s by American physician Jonas Salk. This vaccine contains killed virus and is given by injection.

My Dr. persuaded me to get pneumonia and tetanus vaccines this week but I refused the flu and covid shots.
Alex Jones has said his grandmother (?) developed polio from the early vaccine.
At age 5 in 1954, I contracted polio just before the vaccines were distributed.
I had a mild case—spent three weeks in a hospital bed, restricted to laying on my back. Once released, lots of arduous physical therapy, followed by a lifetime of muscular impairment.
I got the Salk vaccine in 1956. Five years later, I went to Germany, so I got vaccinated for typhoid fever and typhus. The side effect of the typhoid shot was a sore arm that felt like it had taken a hard punch, but the typhus shot felt like a bee sting.
I later got vaccinated against Asiatic cholera, since I was headed for the Soviet bloc, where it still could be found.
I was born in 1955. In that year over 1,000 people died of polio in the United States alone. By 1975 there were more than 250,000 people in the U.S. still at least partially paralyzed by the results of polio.
There are a lot of younger folks who are anti-vax. A lot of us older folks remember polio, and measles, and other diseases.
They left out the part where thousands of people died from the polio vaccine.
Still, not getting the shot.
You’ve never seen a ward full of iron lungs
Polio is and was dangerous. I’m glad there exists a vaccine against it
I was an RN in a university pediatric hospital. I’ve done my research. Go ahead an get vaccine up, and may your faith save you. The truth will set one free, and who the Son sets free is free indeed. One may believe in the vaccine, but don’t believe the lies they told to get people to take it.
sad but true ...
Well, almost everyone :-)
Believe it or not there is really some doubt that polio is an infectious disease, and not a toxic syndrome caused by certain insecticides. See the book “Turtles All the Way Down” for an exposition of the evidence on that subject. https://www.amazon.com/Turtles-All-Way-Down-Vaccine/dp/9655981045/ref=asc_df_9655981045&mcid=b33ff121d0123161bf647bf96d3b9254?tag=bngsmtphsnus-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=80195816670293&hvnetw=s&hvqmt=e&hvbmt=be&hvdev=c&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=&hvtargid=pla-4583795283483207&psc=1
Whatever causes polio, it was successfully cured by large doses of vitamin C years before the Salk vaccine was developed. In July 1949 Dr Frederick Klenner published curing 60 out of 60 cases of polio with massive doses of vitamin C, and the medical world took no notice. https://www.seanet.com/%7Ealexs/ascorbate/194x/klenner-fr-southern_med_surg-1949-v111-n7-p209.htm
unfortunately, tetanus shot is no longer just tetanus vax, as the one given by default is the TDAP vax, namely tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (whooping cough) ... when was the last time you heard of anyone getting diphtheria?
As young kids in the early 50’s, we were all terrified of catching polio. We saw the horrible pictures of patients in iron lungs.
The vaccine was a great relief. I got mine in school.
Strictly TD shots are available. The pertussis vaccine is troublesome and many people have an adverse reaction to it. If I had a gardening accident and needed a tetanus booster that’s what I would get.

Ditto, exactly what happened to me, physical therapy, etc., except I got it at age 5 in 1955. My back muscles are still weak.
There’s one in every crowd...
If you get to heaven, finally your back will be strong.
So are you against getting vaccinated eithe polio vaccine
