Don’t tell me we can’t radically slim down these out-of-control federal bureaucracies getting better results and bang for the buck while balancing our budgets!

**************************************

I won’t!

What we can do to be a catalyst is get involved locally. It appalls me that our county commissioners have no idea how much money the county has and that numerous requests by local, small churches and other organizations for ARPA funds are basically being stonewalled.

Perhaps this has something to do with it:

“Under the American Rescue Plan Act, which allocated the funds, state and local governments must obligate the funds before the end of 2024. The new rule allows governments to count funds as obligated if they are merely reported to the Treasury by April 2024.

In other words, if states and local governments and the other entities haven’t needed to spend all the money they received for pandemic relief, they can just say it’s been obligated and keep it.”

One of the many things President Trump said he will do is pare down fedgov employees by, iirc, 75%, eliminate many agencies and departments, keep the few that are necessary and merge some of them. Plus put many of the headquarters out of DC.

Trimming down the Fedz? Up thru the 90’s I frequently heard about the “allowance” that each rep and senator gets. They called it “patronage” sometimes. It is/was an unwritten rule that allowed each representative a one million dollar spending allowance, un-challenged. Senators got two million un-challenged. Presumably they would spend it in their districts but that was not a rule and it had to result in a lot of vote buying.

I haven’t heard anyone mention that “spending allowance” in recent times but Fed spending will NEVER be rolled back unless that policy can be cut off, banned, and otherwise killed dead.
