A chimney on a fire place drafts smoke/etc out of the house because of its draft. Anything else lets smoke/etc go around the house killing the stupid people who can’t tell that something is wrong ‘cause it smells like something is on fire in this room!!
Morons do this alla time with charcoal briquets. The bloody things make loads of monoxide. Don’t use them inside.
