If eliminating meat from your daily diet seems intimidating—if not downright impossible—you’re not alone. In fact, just 8 percent of the world’s population is vegetarian or vegan. For the other 92 percent of omnivores out there, going meatless one day a week can be more practical. That’s why the Johns Hopkins Center for a Livable Future launched the first official Meatless Monday campaign in 2003. By choosing the first weekday to go meatless, they hope to encourage more Americans to consume less meat. Not sure if you’re ready to take the leap? The environmental, financial, and health benefits of not eating meat one day a week might convince you to give it a try.

There have been stories that it was to boost the fishing industry; but I don’t know. Anyway, I think it was sort of like an ‘Executive Order’, not commanded by anything in scripture.

The data from a large sample might already exist. Catholics observed this practice for centuries.

That would mean more cows would be living longer, and continue standing around, farting up a storm, doing additional great harm to the ozone layer.

I will abstain from meat on Fridays, and not for any of the stupid BS reasons they give here.
To: teeman8r
Nah. They are pushing “Meatless Mondays”. We do our meat-free on Fridays because we follow Christ who was crucified on a Friday, not pagan idols.

So Colonel Flagg was right after all, it really is “Red’s Digest”.

In fact, just 8 percent of the world’s population is vegetarian or vegan.
And it’s only 1% by choice.

The reason meat is so expensive is the welfare people are buying meat in bulk.

Is this like my childhood’s Fish on Friday?
Environmentalism really is a religion.

Catholics used to do that every Friday. Now they do it every Friday during Lent.

That was often what we ate in my younger days, too. I can’t stomach them now. Give me fresh fish anytime, just not fish sticks. Those were gross.

why would I follow this leftist garbage......Oh, the irony! Reader's Digest used to be considered so virulently right wing that college students would rip up copies found on newsstands.
