Things have only gotten worse. I have two children still in high school and both of them are trained in the effective use of a handgun. Obviously, they can't carry - or even own - a handgun yet, but I am preparing them.

When my daughter was 13 and we were in a local Target and a tall black man tried to grab her but she outran him to come to me. I confronted the guy and he said "Don't make a big deal out of it" and ran out of the store. I called the police and they roughly interrogated my daughter into tears, as if she was at fault. She took years before she would go back into that Target again.

Hence the pistol training.

I used to think CCW was for nighttime or big cities. Now? Saturday morning at the Tack & Feed store, I’m carrying. Maybe a 380 at that time and place, but I’m carrying!

And I live in a pretty low-threat area. Or it was until Joe Biden started standing at the border shouting, “Give us your thugs, your rapists, your sexual abusers!” My wife is a LEGAL immigrant and I live in a Hispanic-majority place - but one has to be really stupid to believe Venezuela is sending their best and brightest...
