I always considered NGB's offerings to be very overrated. I once got buttonholed by a very talkative gay Wisconsin leftist who initially asked me for directions to a then-new microbrewery in Eastern Iowa; New Glarus was praised a bit thickly, which raised a red (!) flag.
Had he known my sociopolitical tendencies I am certain he would have detoured around me, but I was polite and let him talk about craft brews and convivial places. In many ways, the encounter was - as they say - "comedy gold."
