Is such a force to be deployed domestically authorized under that "Constitution" thingy, or something? You know, involving Congressional appropriations, and all that.
Oh.....BS! It is not a clandestine army without oversight. I saw this developing. and was a part of it, going all the way back to 2005. It is simply a by-product of the terrain in which we live in: information dominance.
And so we adjusted accordingly. It’s not a big deal, it was a logical move to thwart the prying eyes of foreign intel.

The author, William Arkin, is a former military intelligence analyst who had a Top Secret clearance under the Carter Administration and the first part of the Reagan administration.Arkin was fired from his position and was stripped of his security clearance after providing a list of ALL the American nuclear weapons locations to an intelligence officer from the Soviet Union.
The Reagan Administration struggled with a decision whether to try him for treason or not. Ultimately, it was decided to just "release him" from service in disgrace. The Administration feared that a public trial would give him a pulpit to divulge more Top Secret information to our enemies.
Later, Arkin publicly released a list of all the American Nuclear locations as well as known Soviet Nuclear locations.
He has authored several books, like this article, that takes a few facts and combines them with conjecture. He even worked his way into a job with NBC News.
One thing is perfectly clear about the author, he hates EVERYTHING about the United States Armed Forces -- the organization who relieved him of his duties and threw him out of the Army.
“The largest undercover force the world has ever known is the one created by the Pentagon over the past decade.”
The only reason I can think they would create an army like this is to eventually declare a “national emergency” and use it to assume control of the US.
