A young girl was rushed to hospital after she was bitten by an XL Bully in a horror attack at home.
Police were called by the ambulance service at around 7.10pm on Saturday to a property in Falmouth, Cornwall. The unnamed youngster suffered "serious injuries" in the incident. A statement from Devon & Cornwall Police read: "Police were called by the ambulance service at around 7.10pm on Saturday 13 April to a property in Lowenek Close, Falmouth. It was reported a child had been bitten by a dog, causing serious injuries.
"The girl was taken to Treliske Hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries. Her next of kin attended hospital with her. Officers attended the scene and seized the dog, which is believed to be an XL Bully.
"An investigation remains ongoing to establish the full circumstances of this incident. Anyone with information which could help with enquiries is asked to contact police via our website or by calling 101 quoting log 827 of 13/4/24."
It is now a criminal offence to own an XL bully in England and Wales without an exemption certificate. Unregistered pets are now removed and owners face a criminal record and unlimited fines. More than 35,000 dogs are now registered.
The exemption certificate proves the dog had been neutered, is microchipped, and proves the owner has paid an application fee and holds liability insurance for their dog.

I would guess an “XL bully” is Brit speak for large pitbull?
Id like to see Biden shoved into a room with a dozen hungry of this breed.
Yup. Pit bulls that are bread to be very large pit bulls.
There are two varieties of American bulldog. The Johnson and Scott. The Johnson is bigger, stockier. They are not terriers. Ironically the ‘American’ bulldog was closer to what the English bulldog once was, before bull baiting was banned then they started breeding them with pugs to produce a smaller more docile dog.
I had an English bulldog, a boxer mix, a labrador and a Scott variety American. They were all good dogs. The Scott died from a brain tumor, broke my heart. Replaced him with a Johnson. He was vicious, had to have him put down.
Some pit bull terriers are bad enough at 40-50 lbs., but when you have one twice as big, uh uh. Avoid them.
It’s a specific breed over there and I think they’ve made it illegal.

Take a look at the death list at the site above. Pit bulls are literally killing at least one human - often a child - per week in the US, many of which are the dog’s owners or their friends and relatives.
