"I didn’t smoke, was a moderate drinker, am I AM THE ONE who needed a new liver……go figure…"

God bless you! Despite not smoking or drinking, I have had health problems that nobody else in my family had. I was diagnosed with a fatty liver in the late 90's when I was diagnosed with Type II diabetes. I've only ever taken oral meds for it, and my liver functions are normal. I was the only girl who had kids in my family. My other two sisters never married or had children. My brother married when he came back from Vietnam, and adopted three children...a girl, then twin boys. After 15 years of marriage, my sister-in-law got pregnant, and had a girl. She's married with four children of her own. Two boys, then fraternal twin girls. The oldest son is finishing his second year of college. The second son is graduating high school next month. The twin girls are 15.

There was only one set of first cousins on my father's side. My mother's only brother and his wife never had kids. We never had big family get-togethers because we really had no family. I never knew any of my grandparents. They were all gone before I was born in 1947. I was the only one in the family who had to have my gall bladder removed. My grandmother on my mother's side died on the operating table from gall bladder surgery in December 1946.

"The negative effects of smoking on a person’t appearance, especially the skin, doesn’t get talked about a lot."

You're right about that. I remember several years ago I watched a program about female twins. One smoked, one never had, and the difference in their physical appearance was very apparent. The one that hadn't smoked had nice, smooth skin. The one who smoked looked like a prune. And that was just the external differences between the two.

Fifty years ago while living in beautiful Colorado the most popular bumper sticker was
“DON’T CALIFORNICATE COLORADO!”

We,, it has been. like a cell infected with a virus California exploded sending that virus all over the West. Now Colorado is about to explode from the Cali Virus and my beloved New Mexico is in line to get hit.

If I returned to some of the places I lived in the West I would be arrested for being a criminal in my own home because of new laws passed.

That is interesting. Another comparison along those lines is Raquel Welch and Brigitte Bardot. I can’t remember the details, but there’s something in tobacco smoke that damages the elastin in your skin making it wrinkle prone.

I know (knew) three people who smoke(d) Marijuana constantly.

One is my best friend's nephew. 44 years old now. Never had a steady job. Gets a government check now because he's "nuts." Smoked since he was a teenager.

Another is a Gulf War Vet. Didn't have a regular job after leaving the army. Eventually he decided he was mentally "disabled" because of all the trauma he claims he suffered, and so got a 100% disability check, at least he did until he died a few years ago. (Heart attack) I think he was 58. Smoked weed constantly.

A third is a 29 year old who doesn't have a job, and is going to have a hard time getting a job, because he won't leave the weed alone. When he gets jobs, he keeps getting fired. His girlfriend gets a mental disability check from the government.

My observation of other people whom I have known over the years who smoked weed is they become lazy shiftless ne're do wells that end up on some type of government welfare.

I do not want these people having the right to "choose." The rest of us have to pay for their "choice."

I never tried it. But I sure as heck voted for it in Florida for medical purposes. There was no way in heck I was going to deny a 90 year old going through cancer a little bit of relief. That sounds so selfish to me.

Now we have it on the ballot in Florida in November for recreational purposes. I’m not sure yet on my vote. I’ve gotten to the I don’t care one way or the other phase. We will see when it’s time to vote. What I definitely would like to see is all criminal results from it stricken from their records. Nobody should have gone to jail over it.

Fortunately, there’s no school on Saturdays, so copycat school shootings will be at a minimum.

I have two dogs as well. Nothing like the unconditional love a pet offers.

Don’t smoke pot—did as a kid. Big Whoop. Lots of us did “things” and sometimes those that did nothing are just “sticks in the mud”

But I find throughout man’s history there has always been the search for a safe escape from exisitence. Life is hard and then one dies.

Religion provides that safe escape for many—but there are those that would use substance to re-create or invoke that religious experience—and that has been throughout history.

The Greeks had their Elysieum (sic) that to this date its ingredients are not known. In India it was Soma—again, scripts do not leave use with an ingredient list.

The Monks refined wine and champagne and even beer.

So what I am getting at is that mankind has a long history of searching for the ultimate escape. Many “drugs” need be outlawed because they really don’t provide that safe escape—many of the designer drugs fall under this category.

Though I have never tried MDMA, or its derivitives, I hear that a 15 minute “trip” is intense —in that one is launched into orbit (mentally) and then back on the ground rather quickly.—that fascinates me in that hallucinogens have been the mainstay of man throughout history. In fact there is a theory that man is descended from mushroom eating apes. An amusing theory although I have never bought into the idea that we came from monkeys.

But the thesis that man’s mind sparked after eating a certain plant and that gave rise to glimpses of idea formulation that developed into later inventions and societal formation is a keen one to study.

Micro-dosing does the same type of thing and there are studies going on using certain hallucinogens as treatment for PSTD, or other disorders so that the person can live a rather healthy life. Under controlled settings, I have heard positive results after just a few sessions.

But this is Pot Freedom Day...

I can easily see the difference between wanting to re-create religious ectasy or a opening a path to the future ala Oracles—and that of inducing oneself into a stupor for the sake of being stupified. Then again, in my youth that was the goal on weekends—although weekends began running into the week and those activites had to be curtailed.

So—what is the point of all this...what? Hey, Don’t Bogart That Joint...

Yep. People who smoke and sun bathe don't realize how much damage they do to their skin.

I tried one of those marijuana cans of pop when we were boating with friends. It was super relaxing and then gave me heart palpations for a month.

Interesting. I cannot toast to that man but I see plenty of politicians that emulate or would like to emulate his totalitarian practices. I, myself, celebrate freedom. Freedom of speech (always under attack) and freedom of religion (also slandered) and the pursuit of happiness (which Big Gov really despises).

It only reinforced my convictions that doctors are trying to kill us.

I've witnessed evidence of that. I could've filed malpractice suits for the damage they did but it wasn't worth the effort. Our health is too important to be left solely to doctors. Do your own research like your life depends on it. The doctors just work out of their playbook and flow charts and they were BigPharma financed so there's some self interest going on.

When I saw “420” I thought that is what it meant over here.

He and Marx should have been strangled in the cradle.
