I say the whole story is a "crock of $hit"

I say that because the RESIDUAL MONEY from reruns and streaming download pay services alone over the NEXT 10 years is a very handsome monthly amount that will be paid out to him and the other participating series actors.

"If a major box office earning actor for 50 years stands to effectively “lose his house” if he loses his current job, at 79 years old, well, he's bad with money and has not lived within his means."

Hmmm. I thought all those "movie Stars" were millionaires.

He made that Jesse Stone movie series, and it was really good.! That should have set him for the rest of his days...and still paying him well.

It’s an avocado ranch. When is the last time your avocado read Ca instead of Mexico.

What Selleck has said is that he is set for life, just maybe not on a 63 acre spread in CA. The whole thing about ‘losing’ his ranch is just the press going for sensational headlines. He’s probably thinking of taxes and upkeep going into his 80s and beyond. If he decides to sell, he’ll get millions and be that much richer.

I don’t know that, but I suspected it.

Any time you don’t know for sure the politics of some celebrity, it is because they keep it to themselves so they don’t get blackballed.

Sure, there are celebrities who are Leftist who don’t advertise it either, but they aren’t going to get blackballed by anyone. Being a Leftist (and being a sexual predator, perverted, a thief, and anything else) is a resume enhancer.

Those Leftists probably just want to keep it to themselves. I do believe they exist.

How can Selleck not have a 63 acre ranch paid for?

Tom is as good a conservative American as there is. Me suspects he’s building a public case to split California.

I would very much like to continue this conversation. Perhaps I would learn something. But I’m not a big fan of the vulgarity or the personal attacks.

So I believe I’ll pass.

Great idea! Selleck should move his ranch to Flo-Ridah.

I havnt read the article yet...by that is my intial thought as well.

Between 50 years of compounding interest, royalties, and huge actor salaries...he should be fine to pay for that property

They say the floor has fallen out from beneath the residuals market for actor’s/actresses. Alan Alda’s deal appearing to have been the best or close to it, but no longer available for guy’s like Selleck.

If you watch Blue Bloods it is clear that Tom has health issues also.

Selleck no doubt has an estate plan that allocates most of his wealth to family heirs through inter vivos trusts. In Selleck's mind, he has to meet current expenses without tapping into that accumulated wealth and diminishing what he has set aside for the people he cares about. In addition, Selleck may be poor-mouthing it as a way to advertise his eagerness for new work or to continue Blue Bloods on another network.

Not sure why you think that is a ridiculous statement.

Please explain why you make that assertion.

The cast of Friends get 20 million a year from residuals. Forever. Believe it not, the actress who played Phoebe got the deal for all six. Obviously, Matthew Perry’s will go to the beneficiary.
