Renting a Home vs. Owning a Home: An Overview

Buying a home is a huge part of the American Dream. Choosing to buy or rent, though, is a major decision that affects your financial health, lifestyle, and personal goals. Whichever option you choose depends entirely on your lifestyle and financial situation. Both require a regular income (so you can afford the payments and associated costs) and may also require a certain degree of effort to maintain.

don’t blame you My family is here, my business is here, the ocean is here. I’m 77 and riding into the sunset. So I’ll stay/

Yes Cal has very high taxes and little to show. But property tax is not one of them and seniors get some benefits others don’t.

Once our parents were gone, we couldn't leave fast enough. Those running CA took the crown jewel of America and trashed and defaced it. That wasn't enough so they imported the entire world into the state with their endless chain immigration and wide open violent borders. It'll never be the same now. No going back...

Where I am now is close to what S.CA was in the early 70s. Growing like crazy, but will never become the ugly chaos the Communist left created in CA. There are 5 lakes within minutes, off roading real close by etc., and the people don't look like parolees and felons.☺

Btw, I recall years ago driving from the LA/OC area to San Diego all the time and did 75mph the entire way...Last time I did that about 5 years ago it was bumper to bumper the entire way (and no accidents)... No joke. I cursed the entire way, by the time I got there I wanted to commit mass murder...lol ☺

Looking forward to having you here in TN. (We’re in the eastern part.)

Very kind of you. Thank you.

We started visiting East Tennessee (Smokies) in 2016 and loved it. Unfortunately, we procrastinated and missed the boat on buying something in Maryville, Townsend, or Sevierville (even a cabin as a rental property) before prices went parabolic.

Personally, I think you might have lucked out missing out on Sevierville and Townsend. Lots of those long-time residents are moving into our area (rural just west of Knoxville) because of the insanity of increased tourism, and general overbuilding.

Maryville might be better; don’t know much about that.

In any case, good luck to you!
