Let’s suppose they really are good swimmers. Do we have any reason whatsoever to think they care about saving the lives of Americans? Because that’s another necessary condition for being a good lifeguard.
Consider that fine newcomer who committed a violent crime in Times Square and then flipped the country off. Would he make a good lifeguard?

And they’re prepared to become ‘certified’ lifeguards right? That means, they’re willing to go through the training and continuous physical fitness assessments to continue to be a lifeguard right?
Are we talking about pools & lakes or ocean front lifeguards? Because the latter require even more training.
They do also realize, even after all the training, it really doesn’t pay that much right?
Maybe these are all the types of reasons we have a shortage in the first place right? How will this be any different because they’re here illegally?
