Ya right. The focus of their obsession is Israel. We are in the crosshairs because the US is virtually their only international ally. If Israel were in South America, the twin towers would still be standing.

As much as I am a hawk on Israel...and I am a huge hawk. I think you have twisted the reality a bit. Israel suffers because it's Jewish (mostly) in an Arab and Muslim sea and it's a democracy which is a big threat to the tribalist dictators. America suffers in large part (but not exclusively) the wrath of the Muslim and Arab world because of our support of Israel.
Having said that, I believe Israel's foes are ours and we should be helping them in any way possible...with any means needed.
Cultures that pay families to send their teenagers off to murder civvies on behalf of some fatwah or martyrdom kick are nothing more than savages and need to be destroyed.

We were targeted because we put the Shah of Iran in place and Carter dropped him like a hot potato, giving rise to Ayatolla Kholmeini who the French government allowed to set up an illegimate regime while he was in exile. You make a rather startling statement blaming Israel, considering the fact that Iran held American hostages for over a year and it had nothing to do with Israel.
