Ah! Mary Poppins! One of my favorite movies. I always thought it was interesting the way it skewered the budding feminist mother who was ignoring her kids at the expense of her political activities and the career driven father who was doing the same to his kids for his work. It was wonderufl food for thought wrapped up in a very entertaining message.

BTW, I read somewhere that when the folks doing "Sound of Music" were casting, and were considering Julie Andrews, they saw "Mary Poppins" and signed her immediately!

Speaking of elections and the Democrats running for office:

Is it true Dem U.S. Congress hopeful Rahm Emanuel, who was just blasted for having his home remodeled by nonunion workers two years ago, had his house painted by nonunion workers two weeks ago? *Quoth Emanuel via a spokeswoman: "I did have my house painted recently. I don't know whether they were union painters or not." Chicago Sun-Times.

It was wonderful in the end how Mrs. Banks used her suffragette sash for the kite's tail.
