Vo Nguyen Giap in Viet-Nam defeated the greatest technological army of the 20th century with barefoot soldiers.

Ahmad Shah Masoud in Afghanistan defeated the second greatest technological army of the 20th century with little more than a bunch of AK-47s (and maybe a Stinger or two).

Do you know what happened to Giap after Tet? He got fired because Tet was considered to be a disaster by the NVA. To the extent Giap is now considered a successful general, he owes it all to the Watergate break-in, with an assist from the Washington Post and the New York Times.

He didn't defeat the U.S.. After years of having the war run by Kennedy's (and then Johnson's) "Best and Brightest" Ivy League braintrust, the spoiled baby boomers, in conjunction with the traitorous news media and craven Democrat politicians, created an unstoppable political force which demanded that we retreat. If Giap had to confront a U.S. force commanded by military leaders, he would have been defeated handily.

His TET Offensive was a humiliating defeat for him, but Walter Crankcase portrayed it as a glorious victory.

Hard for me to agree with this one. General Giap won a war of attrition where the N.Vietnamese to American KIA ratio was something like 20-1. The N. Vietnamese leaders and generals placed no value on the human lives fighting on their side. I don't think that qualifies any of them for the top 10.
