AMERICA - The Right Way!! (Days 693 and 694)
Various News Sources and FReepers | December 14, 2002 | All of Us

Posted on 12/14/2002 4:45:08 AM PST by Chairman_December_19th_Society

We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail!

Good morning!! Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!

Henry Kissinger, appointed recently to head the "9/11 Commission," resigned from that position, citing conflicts of interest.

Mary Matalin, VP Cheney's PR strategist, is leaving the White House to spend more time with her family. The Pravda still couldn't avoid a dig, saying the Vice President had "unusal influence inside the White House." Shouldn't a VP have a high level of influence? Come on!

And the CIA believes fully 1/3 of the pre-war leadership of Al Qa'eda has now been killed or captured.

For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.

Too funny...I told him I would give him money and he can use it towards what he wants, but I wouldn't buy it for him.

When we lived on the Pacific Dunes each weekend there would be dozens of kids out there shooting each other. It looked like fun, but I know I would be the one covered in paint from head to toe while my husband would not have a drop of paint on him.

You're talking about catch-a-call, I think. My sister got one and finds it very useful. I don't have a good excuse for not having one myself...except that I rarely have an "extra" $50.

Kay, there seems to be a recurring theme in these mealtime posts of yours, and it begs the question.......

Do you work for Coca-Cola?

Morning all!

Met my mom at Mass this morning. (My wife and kids went last night, as I lay on the couch fighting this danged cold. Feel much better today, but I fear others in the family are coming down with what I had...sigh...)

The priest this morning told a story about some monks in a monastary who lived a very humorless existence. They would however notice a hermit, who would show up for morning Mass, as always someone who radiated with warmth.

One day they invited him in for coffee, after Mass, to share with them his secret of happiness. He obliged, and as they sat drinking coffee, they asked him, "How are you able to approach life with such joy, when you live in poverty?"

He leaned closer and said, "The Messiah is among you." With that he finished his coffee, and left, never to be seen again.

That monastary eventually went from a humorless world to one of love and giving. Their reputation spread throughout all the countryside, and the community was able to share the joy and love of God, as they saw the Messiah in each other.

The Messiah is among you!

Now that Lott faces a white house sponsored effort to replace him he has two cards to play to win. He can tell the president and every Republican in the senate remove me and I resign the senate and undo the 2002 election. Apparently Lott has not played that card.

That scares the hell out to me. The Republicans think he will take the demotion and ruined reputation and do nothing to change that situation.

Make no mistake this is a play by Bush and Rove to remove Trent as leader.

Rove is convinced Lott will not resign or jump ship. Rove and Bush were convinced that Jeffords would not jump either. Jeffords was not a former Democrat.. Lott is. Lott spent 4 years as a Democrat house staffer.

If Lott wants to be a media hero, all he has to do is not resign his seat. He could just go back to the Democrat party of his youth and bring Chaffee or Snowe with him. Note that RINO Senator SNOWE defended LOTT after the speech for Strom. Snowe made a press release supporting LOTT.

Can you imagine the media reaction to a LOTT and Snowe defection? Lott could say I am not a racist and to prove it I will become a Democrat again if the Senate Democrats will have me and clear my reputation. Do you think the Democrats would have him?

Lott would own the 40 percent of the Mississippi voters that are black for his next election attempt. He could pick up at least 11 percent of whites who would be angry at his treatment. Lott is gone as majority leader. What is left to salvage is his reputation and sweet revenge.

Already leftists in the media are backing up on the Lott attacks. They were saying on C-SPAN if it were not for Bush and Rove the media would have dropped the story. They don't really believe Lott is a racist is the leftist media spin this morning. Bush just wants rid of a moderate is going to be the democrat spin. That means the wooing of Lott, Chaffee, and Snowe by the Democrats has begun.

If I were Tom Daschle I would be on the phone to Trent promising to make him a Democratic hero... that may have sinned with a slip of the tongue but has seen the light. Lott could be the new Democratic hero that came back to the Democratic party and brought Snowe or Chaffee with him.

That would just about destroy Dubya. Can you imagine how dumb the media would paint Bush? The dummy that lost the senate twice by his own stupidity... by stabbing men on his own side in the back. The media would spin this until the Republicans could not carry the South.

Most men sitting in Lott's seat facing the option of going down in history as a presidential certified bigot or as a Democratic hero, would be giving Tom Daschle, Chaffee and Snowe a call right about now.

Turning coats is a matter of winning. The winners write the history. If the British had won the Revolutionary war, Benedict Arnold would be a hero in our history books and Washington would be the defeated traitor to our nation. Lott has the power to win for himself. Bush and Rove do not.

The question to be answered is ideology more important to Lott than his own reputation and place in history. For the first 33 years of his life he was a Democrat. Then when it did not seem possible to elect a Democrat in Mississippi Lott became a Republican. Lott, like most southern Republicans are not fiscal conservatives.

It now is certain that Lott can not remain Majority leader. That is no longer an option. The question is does Lott want to be a respected Democrat that took down the once Mighty BUSH or does he want to be a failed Republican outcast bigot.

Lott is a player not an ideologue. That is why the right hates him. But the right thinks he will react like an ideologue. Perhaps they know more than I do.

I certainly hope Bush is wrong about Lott. I hope Lott is an ideologue who would let his party disgrace him rather than get redemption as a Democrat. Bush just bet his second term that Lott will willingly walk the plank.

I think Roy Clark knew exactly what the song "I Never Picked Cotton" meant. His Mom and Dad were share croppers. When he made enough money in the entertainment industry, he bought the very "Big House" on the land his parents share cropped, for them.

According to this story Lott had McConnell play the,"I will quit the senate card" for him last night.

Rove and Bush obviously think Lott is bluffing. I don't think McConnel would have said that and realeased it to the press if Lott had not told him to do so.

It is getting closer to a Dashle lead senate by the hour.

#195...ohhhhh thank-you....

Our choir director is a youngish man of 30 something, and probably a musical genius....

...and he probably has the whole scenario in his head, and is not worried....

..but I don't!

We rehearsed with the youth group, and younger children for the first time Friday night.....and all of us were flubbing right & left....

I NEED DIRECTION!!!!!

but thanks, Dog.......I'll let you know how it turns out....:))))

Guennie ~~~ though I don't sing so can't speak to choral performances, I know from years of teaching Sunday school that the times I felt least prepared the lessons seemed to go the best. I think we do tend to think it depends too much on us and our efforts. It's so hard to 'let go and let God' ..... but it really does work.

This performance is to His glory and I'm sure it will be wonderful!

Having the dress rehearsal be a disaster is supposed to be a good sign ..... or so I've always heard.

*hugs* and prayers!

LOL! No, I don't work for Coca-Cola.

My hubby and I own our own business ...... we're a ServiceMaster commercial cleaning company, focusing on janitorial services. In other words, we clean up the Coke that others spill ....... *grins*

There are some here, whose names shall go unmentioned, who drink soft drinks, particularly Diet Coke, in lieu of coffee in the mornings. I am not one of the guilty parties but I'm not one of the caffeine addicts either ...... hot tea is my beverage of choice.

How's the wee one? And how are her siblings adjusting to the big changes in your household?

We're going to try to finally get our decorations up today so I probably won't be back here until tonight.

Prayers for each of you. And in all the hustle and bustle and busy-ness of the day, keep in mind that "Jesus is the reason for the season." Let us not lose sight of the Light of Christmas among all the lights of Christmas.
