Well, the Garand semi auto rifle was, I believe, more effective by far than the rifle the Germans used for most of the war. Possession of the superior basic weapon has to have made a major difference. I have read that when first confronted with our rifle companies, German soldiers thought they were facing fully automatic weapons.

I'm not too sure we ever closed the gap on tanks, though.

Sheer numbers negated the need for a superior tank, by the time it would have been ready in sufficent numbers, the war was all but over.

Different tanks were better or worse depending on the situation as well. Tigers and Panzers had different strengths, as did the American tanks. Earlier American tanks sucked when up against enemy tanks but were very useful for other things.

Well, I guess our primary tank, which we had a lot of, was the Sherman, I believe reliability, and maneuverability were its strengths, while German tanks, the Panther and Tiger, had lots more armor and far superior cannons, one on one, the Shermans were no match, I don't think.

Yeah, I don't think the Germans were able to get over the amount of stuff we were able to throw at them.

I saw in a documentary that the Russian tank, a T-something or other, was also very superior and an unpleasant surprise to the Germans, and based on an American design that our people chose not to use.

And they could never get over the other obstacles, like trying to beat almost the entire world.

They were evil and they are in hell. Like the Japs, who were worse.

Do you think the Japs were worse?

I agree that they were probably equally racist, but I don't know that they set up extermination camps as did the Germans.

I am friends with a lady who is a survivor of a Japanes concentration camp, she has some interesting stories. Born in the Netherlands, she was in Sumatra, Dutch East Indies, when the Japs overran it. She spent the rest of the war in the camp.

The type of camps isn't the determining factor. The Nazis had a unique method of murder, which is why we remember.

Read about the rape of Nanking or the Bataan death march if you want to know about these people. What they did to the Chinese and Koreans is an undertold story.

I guess the amount of evil is a matter of debate. One thing is sure, they are where they belong, hell.

Well, I am not arguing that the Japs were not evil, and remember reading about those events in history back in school. Wonder if they still teach that stuff, or if PC has decided to not mention it anymore.

The Commodore Amiga was far superior to either Mac or PC.

Beta produced 300 lines of resolution compared to the 240 lines of the VHS system. SuperBeta because the standard and provided 350 lines... VHS was still 240. BetaED raised that standard to 500... while the the best premium VHS offered only 400.

Beta offered a better color handling system:

"Beta Fact:
Unlike the rival format (VHS) Betamax records an additional pilot color burst onto tape which results in more accurate color reproduction."

Contrary to your assertion, a simpler and more reliable tape path that allowed more special features such as the ability to play slow-motion both forward and reverse. Because of that reliability and features, the Beta system is still used today by many television news crews in the 1/2inch format BetaCams although many are switching to digital cameras.
