Texas trivia: "Big Tex", the 50'+ tall statue that greets visitors at the entrance to the Texas State Fair each October, reportedly wears the 3rd largest pair of pants in the US -- Size 276.
The 1st and 2nd largest pants are, of course, worn by Jerry Nadler and Ted Kennedy, respectively.

A Texas milestone: 1] The Texas House of Representatives today (01/14/03) swore in its first Republican Speaker of the House since 1870.
2] Likewise, Republicans hold the majority in BOTH the Texas House and Senate for the first time since 1870.
3] The number of Democrats holding a state-wide elected office in Texas remains at ZERO (as has been the case since 1998).
