The GUILD 3-1-2003 Bush vows to rebuild Iraq if U.S. goes to war
Posted on 03/01/2003 10:24:54 AM PST by Hillary's Lovely Legs
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- President Bush Saturday outlined his post-war plans for Iraq, assuring the American people that the United States "will remain in Iraq as long as necessary, and not a day more."
In his weekly radio address, Bush said the United States, along with its coalition partners, would "stand ready to provide vital help" to the people of Iraq after any war.
"The lives and freedom of the Iraqi people matter little to Saddam Hussein, but they matter greatly to us," he said.
"In order to minimize the suffering of Iraq's people," the U.S.-led coalition would stock food distribution sites, deliver medical and relief supplies and provide nearly 3 million emergency rations to feed the hungry, Bush said.
"We will deliver medicine to the sick, and make sure that Iraq's 55,000 food distribution sites, operating with supplies from the oil-for-food program, are stocked and open as soon as possible," he said.
The United States would also provide security, rid the country of chemical and biological weapons and ensure that Iraq's natural resources -- including oil -- will benefit the Iraqi people.
Bush stressed that the United States has no intention of occupying Iraq after ousting Saddam from power, but will honor its commitment to rebuild the country after the war ends.
"After defeating enemies, we did not leave behind occupying armies; we left constitutions and parliaments," he said. "The nation of Iraq -- with its proud heritage, abundant resources and skilled and educated people -- is fully capable of moving toward democracy and living in freedom."

I brought this from the last thread...last post:
There's GOOD news!
Just turned on the TV and see that Khalid Shaikh Mohammed has been arrested in Pakistan. He's one of the most wanted men thought to have masterminded the 9/11 attacks.
Perhaps some significant info to be gleaned here....maybe we should let Pakistan work on him for a while.
CNN reporting that FBI agents were present for the raid. Gotta love those G-men!

The speaker of the Turkish parliament has nullified a vote approving the use of Turkish bases by U.S. troops for a possible war with Iraq. Speaker Bulent Arinc said the vote is not valid because a majority of legislators present at Saturday's vote did not approve the motion. Earlier reports said parliament approved the U.S. request 264 to 251, with 19 abstentions.
The United States wants to use Turkish bases as a northern front in any war to force Iraq to disarm. One report says the Turkish parliament will take up the issue again on Tuesday.
About 60,000 U.S. troops and thousands of tons of military hardware are aboard U.S. naval ships in the Mediterranean waiting for permission to disembark in Turkey. Voice of America
These people are really getting on my nerves. That interview with x42 from the Atlantic that you linked to in the previous thread, T, didn't help my blood pressure any, either.

Awww, X42 is yesterday's news and, best of all, he knows it.
(I still think the Turkey problems may be a head-fake.)

All the other networks are showing pictures of Shaik Mohammed and the Tora Bora bombings.
Good ole Fox is showing footage of rescue dogs sniffing through the rubble at Ground Zero...perfect!

Geraldo said that whoever turned in Khalid Mohammed will be getting the twenty five million dollar reward!!
Let's hope that this encourages more people to turn in the bad guys.

Fox is OK, but they're pushing me to the limit of my limited tolerance with the war reports of that mustachioed buffoon Rivera. Anyone who can't investigate a rapist in the White House has no credibility with me. I click off Fox every time I see his clown face. He does not belong at Fox.

Did you ever see someone so obviously "yesterday's news" continue to try so desperately to get his name in the headlines on a daily basis?

Former U.S. Horndog in Chief Bill Clinton speaks to the gullible delegates of the India Today Conclave via video conference, live from New York, organized by India Today group of publications in New Delhi, India, Saturday March 1, 2003. At the conclave, 'India Tomorrow: 2003, Global Giant or Pygmy' Clinton said, 'If India can remain together, then it can become a global giant.' (AP Photo/Manish Swarup)
No, wait, there's more:
"I have often thought that Kashmir could be resolved something along the lines of the Irish problem," Clinton said in a speech through satellite to a conference organized by a media group in New Delhi. "They had a world marred by terror for 30 years, it's now part of the past,' Clinton said. [That must come as a surprise to those in the midst of the current fighting] "If they can consider they have to do it, so can you." AP

The next time you see the President, give him a copy. The guy needs it.
Islam - the religion of peace.
Right - and Oh, BTW, saddam's disarming. We can all remove our duct tape and saran wrap.
Start the bombing and quit jerking around W: we are sick of it. Just do it. And CLOSE the freaking borders while you're at it for starters.

Israeli police are looking for a man name Joseph, wanted for looting in the port city of Haifa. The suspect is described as the son of an ex-nun from Barcelona and a German father. He was a former flutist and worked occasionally as a farmer.
In short, he was a Haifa-lootin, flutin Teuton, son of a nun from Barcelona, part time plowboy Joe.
