I have a mailbox full of spam. I didm't know how badly people want to sell me penis enlargment tool and cheap drugs, gambling. I am also supposed to be overweight and constantly looking for a hot date. Spammers also want me to see things that could be... well... overwhelming.
Sometimes the preview pictures curl my hair as I scramble to delete before the children run into the room.
I have an internet business and do get emails from unknown senders. But the email spam is mixed in. I have three mailboxes that sort into five on my computer. My former consultant suggesed that I read the Feb issue of PC magazine but I am not sure that the items that are recommended will help. I don't want to lose my customer's email.
Have any of you used anti spam software and what would you recommend??

But my customers write me from the internet so I have a group of emails that come in for my work without any previous relationship you have freepmail Mailwasher allows you to see a list of every e-mail that you get before you decide whether to delete it or not, without ever loading that email onto your server. You get a preview of the sender's email address and the subject.

I tried Mail Washer a while back. The free version only allows one account, but I get mail through 3 different servers. After trying it, I decided I liked Pop Tray better. Pop Tray isn't as well known, however, but did get 6 ducks at Nonags.

(free) Mailwasher allows checking multiple e-mail accounts -- not sure if that's a new feature.

That's a new restriction, then. I was using ver. 2.40, I think, and could access multiple accounts.
What version are you installing?

I am trying
qurb for outlook integration + non-pop3 email account (sounds like mailwasher is great for pop3). Qurb uses whitelists where you explicitly identify sender's you wish to receive mail from.
No promises, but so far, it's working ok.
For non-pop ups, use mozilla for a browser...much better than internet exploder.

Send me FReepmail if you can't get multiple accounts.
I might have an older version of Mailwasher around here that'll do 'em.
If not, a contribution of as little as $5 to the author might get you full functionality.

Never give it to a web site or business, they will sell it, or the bankruptcy judge will sell it when they go out of business, regardless of what you've been promised. Never give it to anyone you don't want to send you email.
Keep the current email address for spam and tell your friends to stop using it. You stop using it too, except to check occassionally for those you forgot to tell and for when you sign up for something (have them mail confirmations to the old email).
Repeat as needed.

I was getting over two hundred spams a day. I decided to use the unsuscribe option provided by the majority of spammers. Yes, it took time, but I was spending time deleting anyway.
Much to my surprise, I began immediately receiving much less spam mail.
For those smammers who did not provide an option to unscribe, I simply blocked them to my delete folder.
Ten days later, I am now getting an average of only five a day spam e-mail.
Hey, you just have to laugh at the 'do you want a larger penis' offers. When I first received on of these, I thought it was an offer of male prostitution.

I use Pegasus Mail (it is FREE) Bump for P-mail - to my mind, one of the very best spam-killing email clients.

So I have an address just for junk that I use forgreetings cards only and the rest stays clean. What about the poor folks you send the cards to? I've asked everyone I know to PLEASE stop putting my email address into anything on the net.
